A Great Beginning
Bombs are going off around the world killing a substantial amount of people. One goes off in the Philippines killing the super heroes in that country. Another bomb goes off at the Starkdynamics Gala in Taiwan. Both Iron Man and Pepper Potts were in attendance. Pepper was seriously hurt during the explosion and ended up with shrapnel in her chest. Tony tells her the only way is to do to her what he had to do to himself when then happened. Ezekiel Stane plans on blowing up four different Stark facilities around the world in hopes of crippling the company. Iron Man races to stop Stane and save innocent people from being hurt.
My Thoughts:
I had heard a lot of great things about this series for some time now and I'm just finally starting to read it. After reading the first seven issues I would say I'm pleased with the outcome so far. Matt Fraction's first story arc was interesting and entertaining as he brought in Ezekiel Stane, son of Obadiah Stane who wants revenge on Tony Stark who he blames for his fathers death.
As exciting as that is, what I found more thrilling was the part about Pepper. It appears that she is basically being turned into "Iron Woman" and will be flying around in a suit of her own in the near future. I also like how Fraction expanded on the situation between Iron Man and Thor. The last time they met was in Thor Vol. 1 and the meeting didn't end well as Thor was furious at Iron Man for being involved in making the Thor clone during the Civil War arc.
The pencils are by Salvador Larroca and the colors are by Frank D'Armata. The outcome is some of the most impressively designed artwork I have had the pleasure of seeing. It truly is amazing.
This was a great beginning to a series I'm definitely looking forward to reading further. I can't wait to see what direction Matt Fraction goes next with this series. Check it out if you haven't.
