Invincible #65 seemed like a mad dash to tie loose ends and unravel new ones. The epilogue of the gruesome fight with Conquest leaves Mark broken all over and Eve with bigger boobs? That is right those are the two revelations from the fight with Conquest. Normally I appreciate Kirkman's whimsical humor, but allowing Atom Eve to bypass her powers and help Mark defeat Conquest only to have her get bigger boobs? Not cool and just took away from the impact of the story.

If you like Samantha and Mark's relationship then this issue will make you feel all warm inside. They are making out in the hospital then at Rex's funeral (hence the cover, more on that later) and then making love in a separate scene altogether. There relationship in this issue just felt cheap and overdone. In fact Mark spends less time with his mom and Oliver than he does with Atom Eve.

Next we have the funeral for Rex Splode (who has a mini coming out). I felt that Robot's eulogy really helped me to appreciate the character of Rex. It was genuine and raw. RIP Rex (he is not coming back).

Though this issue is mostly tying up loose ends, it does unravel three reoccuring subplots. We see Angstrom Levy and the Astronaut who is possessed by the alien starfish things. Also there is more to Cecil's plan to protect the Earth from the Viltrumites. Man is Cecil a douche.

I would say pick up Invincible 65, but be prepared for an epilouge that feels rushed and focuses too much on Atom Eve. Oh by the way something is happening to Atom Eve (besides the boobs). The ending feels rushed as well. I give it a 3 out of 5.

On to the Viltrumite War and Cory Walker. (I think the team of Ottley and FCO need a break; kind of sloppy this issue guys).
