Injustice Gods Amoung Us #1
Ed Boon and Netherrealm studio's video game isn't out yet, however the events of this comic might explain why the heroes are trying to kill one another. Superman is the center of attention in this issue and he's got good news to share with Batman. Things are looking up, what could go wrong?
The Good
When I first saw the announcement trailer for the Injustice: Gods Among Us video game, I immediately knew DC would put out a video game tie-in to promote their game. I also set a low expectation for this comic as I was not expecting great things. However now, I have really enjoyed this first issue. The story opened up really slow, however as it dived into Superman's story it started to become more interesting.
Injustice: Gods Among Us in my mind was already set up to fail. Usually with video game tie-ins, they're written by people who do not put their entire heart into their writing. I was glad this was not the case as writer Tom Taylor did an outstanding job on this first issue. He made the story plot very clear from the beginning without anything dragging out.
Jheremy Raapack's art style slightly reminds me of Carlos D'Anda whom did the Arkham City video game tie-in art. Raapack did a good job on the art for this issue.
The Bad
After reading this first issue I am very excited for the next issue. One thing I did not like about this issue was how it is too short.
The Verdict
If you own a smartphone, tablet, or computer checking out Injustice Gods Among Us is a must. The story is well written for a video game tie-in, the artwork is good and for only $0.99 it really is worth reading.
