keith71_98's Incredible Hulks #631 - Heart of the Monster Part Two review

    Good dumb Hulk fun.

One thing about it, no one will be able to say that Greg Pak didn't wind down his Incredible Hulk run with enough Hulk smashing. This issue is wall-to-wall action but with a little more to offer as well.

The entire book is wrapped around a large scale Hulk battle in Las Vegas. Throw in She-Hulk, A-Bomb, Wendigo, Bi-Beast, and even Fing Fang Foom and I think you get the picture. There's a lot of fighting and a lot of destruction. But there's also some genuinely funny moments. It's the timely humor that keeps this book from being a typical, if not numbing, action romp. While I was a bit dissappointed that Pak hardly addressed Betty and Tyrannus, I'm sure that's coming.

The art is perfectly fitting for a book like this. Paul Pelletier is never overmatched by the material. He lays out the action in a way that fits the intended large-scale feel. The panels are cleverly structured and the creatures look insanely large. I would like to see a little more range in the art work but I think that's due to the restrictions of the story than anything in Pelletier's art. In a nutshell, this looks like a Hulk book should look.

Lot's of action and timely humor in place of any meaningful plot progression. This is simple, dumb fun (and I don't mean that negatively). And while I enjoyed it, I am hoping we get back into the main story next issue.
