The War is about to begin

Someone told me in advance that Hulk wasn't actually in this issue, and I was worried. How can you start World War Hulk without the Hulk in it? Well it turns out this is a great way to start it.

Now that I've had a chance to read the issue and step back and dwell on it, I find it makes perfect sense the way it was handled. We already know what's going on with Hulk and his Warbound warriors, but we hardly know what's going on with the players that are going to be important to this story that are already on Earth. Enter: She-Hulk and Mastermind Excello. I'm happy to see that someone is getting some use out of one of the characters that came out of Amazing Fantasy, I was a fan of the title. She-Hulk on the other hand made me want to go hunt down some of her last issues because her little flashbacks made it look very interesting.

These are hardly the only two characters in the series, but I don't want to spoil anything else. Let's just say that the rest of the characters that show up make a lot of sense to the Hulk's mythos, and even some that I was thinking about. World War Hulk could have been simply about Hulk smashing stuff for the next year and I would have been happy. This issue shows that it's going to be about a lot more then just Hulk Smash!, and might just have a very interesting story to it. If anything, I'm looking more forward to reading WWH now then I did before, and I didn't think that was possible.
