seriously i picked a few issues last week on sale and all i have to say their stories are just damn good better than a lot of crap that comes from marvel and dc no convoluted universe easy to pick up, easy to read
i just wish some new marketing director gets image on its feet back and to compete
also i hope fanboys just try somthin new
Image
Image Comics was founded in 1992 by a group of high-profile comic book writers and artists, as a way to publish stories owned by creators rather than the company itself. They are now one of the largest comic book publishers in the United States.
Why the heck are there no image fans no more
There are tons of Image fans. Hell, The Walking Dead is one of the most highly praised books I've heard about in a while.
On a side note: Grammar fail! :-P
There are heaps of Image fans. One of the biggest complaints about the company is that they tend to undership their #1's.
I read Haunt, do I qualify?
LMAO It's nothing earth shattering but was still pretty fun.
Yes, but it's been slow in production. It's also co-written by Robert Kirkman. The first trade was only $9.99 so it was well worth it.
@Jake Fury: Is it still going? I'm not really a McFarlane fan, hence my snippy comment =P
If I'm not mistaken, he's only been the inker for the series. He helped co-create it with Kirkman but I don't think he's done any of the writing.
As for the actual thread, I thoroughly enjoy Invincible and Witchblade.
It's appealing to me because you don't have to worry about any previous history of the character (being new) and therefore I can just enjoy it. His supporting cast is relatively small and therefore easy to keep up with.
I couldn't agree more. It's refreshing to just be able to enjoy a particular character or story without having to practically do a research paper to be caught up on it.
Bck to the thread...ummmmmmm.....I liked Gen13 back in the day..
@Jake Fury: One of the reasons I really love the early Invincible issues. New series are great for that. Sometimes it's great to sit down and enjoy a comic, not have to spend 3 hours working out the layers (thinks about Watchmen) lolIs it any good? I have been thinking about picking it up.

Invincible is a really great superhero book, but it's nothing high-minded. That doesn't stop it from being, week in and week out, the most fun comic you'll read.
Watchmen is just amazing. If you haven't read that, you must.
I've read Spawn (including Medieval Spawn and Godslayer), Noble Causes, Invincible, Dynamo 5, Firebreather, Guarding The Globe, Brit, Astounding Wolf-Man, Tech Jacket, Shadowhawk and Freshmen.
Tried to read Youngblood and Savage Dragon, but I didn't like it.
Can I call myself a fan?
I think what you have hear is a two-fold question here, but I will try and offer my opinion. #1- I think there are plenty of Image fans but part of the reason there aren't as many as one might expect is because the story quality of the initial Image, bad release times recycled artwork and enough copies of each comic made that it flooded the market with a bunch of titles and copies of those titles too many copies. #2- next we come to what they are doing now Better story writing but artwork by artists OTHER than the ones who originated the characters. Part of the big draw to image is that they were some of the hottest artists on the block drawing their own characters and comics, elminate that fact and you have a problem. To date Erik Larsen is the only one who has consistently drawn his own title "Savage Dragon" the rest of the creators have had other drawing theirs for them or in addition to them. So Astounding Wolf-Man is drawn by a buddy of mine Jason Howard, and he has been pretty consistent in drawing it, an amazing book and written by Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead). In short coupled with inconsistency poor writing and overshipping/overprinting of the first few years of image and fanboys have somewhat lost their tastes, fast forward to now and undershipping and under-promoting as well as a lack of a contiguous universe does tend to create a problem at times however I think Image has turned around nicely and I think they are in their own right on the rise once again.
