Idunn is the daughter of Freya, the goddess of fertility, and Iwaldi, a dwarf who took part in the creation of the treasures for the gods. Odin appointed Idunn Keeper and guardian over the Golden Apples, whose mysterious and mystical abilities literally stopped the aging process of the Asgardians. The Golden Apples of Idunn make the Asgardians immortal as they are grow only in Asgard, and can only be picked by Idunn herself. They are what grant the Asgardians gods youth, strength, and practical immortality. Idunn the goddess was once attacked by Fenris Wolf, who made it his goal to steal the Golden Apples from her, but was foiled as she was saved by Haaken the Hunter who briskly fought Fenris off. After the events of Ragnarok, Idunn like the rest of the Asgardians temporarily ceased to be, before being restored by a reawakened and revitalized Thor some period of time later, like many of her fellow gods.

    Creation

Idunn is a character from Norse mythology.

    In Marvel:

    For Asgard

Sometime in the distant past Asgard suffered through a crisis with Balder dead, Odin missing and the Nine Worlds on the break of civil war, after Idunn informs Thor that the perpetual winter has left the trees that usually bear the golden apples of immortality bare, Thor sends her and her brother Frey to plant new trees on Earth hoping to replenish the fruit stock.

    Shattered Heroes

Upon the defeat of The Serpent, Odin leaves Midgard destroying the rainbow bridge behind him leaving the Asgardians on Midgard. This leaves the Vanir in charge to rule the Gods. Freyja, Gaea and Idunn rule in the All Mother Throne Room. It is here where Loki, now a child must come before them and explain his actions during Fear Itself. Freyja blackmails him into being the Vanir's spy and errand boy.

Then some time later when Loki shows up with a litter of puppies bred from Garm and the Hel Wolf she demands that he find a home for each of them or dispose of them. Loki finds a home for all but one, counting giving one to Gaea of which Freyja disapproves. Loki can't make himself kill the ill tempered hound, and names it Thori, another act of which Freyja and the all mothers disapprove.

Later when Loki gets in a fight with a bully in Broxton, Freyja and the all mothers order that he apologize, after sending him to his room to think about what he has done. This leads Loki into making deals with the Fear Lords and this displeases Idunn and the others even more, and they punish Loki with having to rake the Ruingarden.
