Vampire Empire
As more and more vampire-based titles hit the shelves, you`d almost expect the quality to drop, and maybe that`s true with some, but not with Ides of Blood, this is good stuff...
Set in another alternate history: 44AD, some years previously the Roman Empire has invaded Transylvania, and as a result, vampires are integrated into Roman society. Mostly slaves and plebs, but now the aristocracy is beginning to succumb to the bite...
But a killer is on the loose, three aristocrats have been killed, all with bite marks. Now, Gaius Valens - Praetorian Guard and vampire, has been assigned to track down the murderer, dubbed The Pluto`s Kiss Killer.
Ides of Blood looks very promising. It`s well paced from the murder at the start to Valens tracking a suspect to a bloodsucking brothel at the end. Duce and Badilla do a great job on the artwork, it looks good.
Well written, and there`s some political intrigue and sexy stuff thrown in - well, hey, it is Ancient Rome!
Ancient Rome...with vampires.
Enjoyed this - two thumbs up! (Hail Caesar!)
