Icicle is a evil scientist who designed a cold ray gun which he uses to freeze his enemies. He also designed an insulated costume which protects him from his deadly weapon. Edit
Born in England, Joar Mahkent traveled to America to show his work on cryogenics. However when his boat docked suddenly the was frozen solid. Alan Scott went to investigate the ship and found Joar shot to death in his room. The first suspect was gangster Lanky Leeds who was traveling on the same boat as Joar. So whoa costumed criminal named the Icicle appeared with a freezing ray gun, Alan assumed he was Lanky. After many robberies, he was finally caught and it was discovered that the Icicle was really Joar. On the boat Joar had attacked and killed Lanky and then used his ray gun to make the dead body look like himself. Not wanting to be captured, the Icicle lept 20 stories into a river, seemingly to his death.
