I waited how many years for her for that? REALLY?
I'll admit, I didn't read this whole arc. I only purchased this issue because it leads into the next issue which features DEATH of the Endless and wanted to read it before #894 came out.
Jumping in now was easy enough. If you know the basics of the DCU you would be fine reading this comic. If you are a Neil Gaiman Sandman fan wanting to see what the hype is about, this maybe a little advanced. Smallville doesn't doesn't cover Gorilla Grodd last time I checked, so this comic will not be mainstream accessible.

As for the comic itself the main feature is a fairly solid read. Great action and great treachery on Lex Luthors behalf. The ending most people would love and I am pretty sure I would of enjoyed it more if it was a blind revile without knowledge on the special guest in the next issue.... I honestly was thinking "Really? I waited to see her back in the DCU like this?... REALLY?" It felt like a comic stunt... I hope the next issue provides the enjoyment I was longing for since DC is striping Vertigo of some of its prime resources.
The Back-Up feature is targeted for the Smallville fans. Chloe Sullivan is canon it seems. Did I miss something? When did she become Canon? Hit indie series Morning Glories writer Nick Spencer is writing this back-up and I thought it was okay, but not as tight of a story that it should be. Too many question currently is opened for my liking, like why is Chloe there and when did she have a relationship with comic version Jimmy? If Superman is not in Metropolis, is it set side-by side with the current Grounded arc? Too many question, but the ending was interesting enough.
Overall... wait for the trades judging from this issue.
Cheers!
