Best of the Zero Month
So, as you may have already guessed by the title of this review, I, Vampire #0 was, in my opinion, the best comic I read within the Zero Month concept. Yes... far better than Batman or Wonder Woman, who were considered by many people as masterpieces.
The story is set in 1591, and Fialkov makes the dialogue just as it should be: formal. And that was one of the best things about this issue. The dialogue is truly perfect. We also get to see how Andrew was transformed. It is all beautiful and set in a dark, creepy tone, just like a horror comic should be. The forest and rainy scenario is perfectly presented by Sorrentino. Honestly, his artwork was flawless in this number.
While I was reading this, I felt like I was watching a movie, especially during the scenes where Cain hunts Andrew in a dark, creepy forest until he trips. After he is transformed, Fialkov presents a 1st person view, as though we were Bennett himself. His dialogues were amazing, and seeing the old woman murdered was exceptional. The last page was unforgettable. We see Andrew and Mary separated by a wall and a Shakespeare quote. In fact, see it for yourself:
My only complaint is that we didn't see Mary at all (except for that last page, which doesn't show much, although it's amazing). I mean, Andrew talks about her at all times, so I just wish we could've seen some of her. Overall, this was a great issue that makes the zero month almost worth existing.
