Hyperion
Character » Hyperion appears in 667 issues.
Hyperion is Marvel's first Superman pastiche. He is most often associated with the super-team known as the Squadron Supreme and was an Avenger at one point. Though he is one of many active versions across a myriad of alternate universes, Hyperion is still one of the mightiest super-humans in the Marvel Multiverse.
Did the New Hyperion Give it to the Hulk?
Will this Hyperion be taking over as the muscle in the Avengers 3. Will they have any use for Thor now?
@TheCrowbar: It's part of the preview for Avengers #3 by Jerome Opena

I remember someone on Formspring asking Hickman what role Hyperion would play on the Avengers roster, and he replied "asskicker in chief" or something along those lines.
In the CBR Q&A he did someone asked him who was going to be the strongest in his Avengers Hulk or Thor and he answered Hyperion

@_slim_ said:If you mean Monica Rambeau that's not her. Hickman said he wouldn't ever use her considering how he feels about her and Nextwave.Monica as Captain Universe, I like.
Then who is it?
IIRC it's a new character. Also Captain Universe can give powers to anyone so it doesn't have to be someone who already had them.@Dernman said:

I see. Yeah, I know the Uni-Power can give it's powers to anyone.

New Hyperion? I thought this was the old Hyperion.
Brand New Hyperion. Hickman wants to play and alter his personality and powers from established Hyperions. All 93 of them.
Seems weird since there already are 2 Hyperions in 616 he could use. Also it says on the Hyperion page that it's the Earth-712 version that joined the Avengers.
With Hickman's character comparisons from fans questions, his reply to who will be the biggest ass kicker between Thor and Hulk his reply has been Hyperion, and to who is the strongest Avenger, he answers with the (paraphrased) question, Hasn't Hulk always been? Though Thor fans shouldn't feel neglected, as he is listed in Hickmans favorite three characters to write Avengers wise.

I think he basically wants all the advantages of having a Superman clone without all the problems of creating a new character and Hyperion/Hyperions fits in with his theme of exploring alt Universes realties what have you. Hyperion is suppose to play an important part of his Avengers story plot wise. He'll also probably die in Hickmans last few issues. =p
Either way it is pretty weird.
@TheAcidSkull: He considers the Hulk the strongest as far as strength goes (presumably based on his answer to that question) Hyperion will be presumably the biggest "ass kicker" on his team, which is a bit of a subjective term, and Thor is one of his three favorite Avengers to write, the other two being Iron Man and Ms Marvel. So I am not sure if that answers who his favorites are but thats what I meant by my prior statement. ^_^

I am most definitely not a fan in how Opena has drawn Hulk so far.
Yeah. Also there are panels in Avengers #2 where Cap looks like a blonde Elliot Stabler.
Yup. The art looks nice, but half of the characters are incredibly unidentifiable. I mean, look at Carol in this image... I'm sorry, but that is just the worst representation of her character thus far.

thanks for the clarification ! have you been enjoying marvel now ? :)
I haven't actually read much of it beyond skimming the books to make sure I recieved the right ones, as I am still catching up on Pre Marvel Now comics, but the books I have skimmed look like they have potential! You are enjoying Hulks Marvel Now series?
His favorites Avengers are Thor, Danvers and Stark, while Kang is his favorite Avengers' enemy. He said so in CBR forums (this part of what he said there was transleted to Polish, so I can't give You direct link in English).@SC said:

so wait, hulk Thor and Hyperion are Hickman's favorites ? THATS AWESOME !
And since he said that his favorite 616 character is Arctutus Rann, I belive that we will see Hyperion (616) from Microverse. A specially that he also admitted that he is fan of PAD's work with Genis-Vell.
Other importnat info:
If he would have to bring some character from the dead from thie group: Cap. Mar-Vell, Sentry, Ares or Richard Rider, he would choose Ares.
New Spider-Man will be shown in Avengers #6.
Age of Ultron will not have tie-in's in his series.
He doesn't have any plans for:
Sage, Vision, Sentry, Wonder Man, Cap. Britain, Blue Marvel*, Quicksilver, Pete Wisdom, Clea nor Daredevil.
And this people for sure won't be members of Avengers:
Ghost Rider, Bucky, Iron Fist, Prince of Orphans, Hellstorm, Tigra, War Machine nor Red She-Hulk. Nor anyone from Eternals.
Some of these people will be present in his series:
Ego, Living Tribunal, Galactus, Silver Surfer, Universe abstracts, Celestials, Eternals, Council of Watchers, Deviants, Adam Warlock (i/lub Magus), Maxam, AoA/Atlas Empire.
In second part of his topic on CBR, he revealed that he won't use Surfer nor Beyonder, but there is a chance for Thanos and Galactus.

Microverse Hyperion from New Thunderbolts and King Hyperion from Exiles.
Current Hyperion is from another universe. He has the Superman origin: sent from another planet to Earth, blah blah. His Earth was more futuristic.
Then, it's revealed that his Earth was destroyed by the universal destruction issue that's being highlighted in New Avengers, and he was pulled into 616 by AIM.
@evilvegeta74: Jerome Opena usually does several issues at a time before taking a break. He did some wonderful work previously on Uncanny X-Force vol 3 and Fear Agent.
YAY Hyperion punched hulk back to his normal form ^_^. Read issue 4, yeah got confused at two hyperions part, but that didn't stop me from enjoying Kubert's arrrrtttt. I prefer his art over opena's to be honest =/

Nope.
Did Hyperion just beat the %$#@ out of the Hulk in Avengers #3? It sure looks like Hyperion hit him with a left hook and Hulk turns back into Banner - straight humbled!!! Am I interpreting that wrong?
Thor called down lightning and it shook Hulk free from the control of Abyss.
@Fifthchild: yeah i read it again. Thor's thunderstrike hit abyss, and she said it herself that she lost control... i kinda jumped the gun there, my bad ^_^.
On another note, since Hyperion's previous incarnations were evil... i hope they don't revisit that, and let him be the good honest joe, who heroes like a boss. But something at the back of my head keeps telling me that he'll succumb to the dark side for cookies =/

No worries. A lot of people did the same thing.
