Human Torch
Character » Human Torch appears in 6871 issues.
The second most powerful member of the Fantastic Four and the younger brother of Sue Richards. Due to an accident caused by cosmic radiation in space, he can manipulate fire, turn his entire body into it and fly. While Johnny is known for his impetuous and sometimes reckless nature, he is also a loyal friend and fearless hero.
why did human torch have to die?
He was a really cool character and he was still "young".
This is one death that I just don't get. Not only is it the death of the Human torch but it is also the death of the Fantastic Four. I guess sales must not have been that great that they thought they had to end it like this. I for one loved FF for many reasons I will not get into here - and what they have planned does not look like it will interest me. We'll see how it pans out and I'm sure in a couple of years the Human Torch will be back with the the Fantastic Four.
" A better question Why did Nightcrawler have to die? "That is a wonderful question, I got nothin' :(
@doomsilver:
He's the most disposable of the FF.
Sue is the fanservice and the team mom.
Mister Fantastic has already died, therefor, without him they would lost many of their technological asset.
Ben Grimm is the most cool and interesting character of the band, and is the one with more depth and angsty of the four. Why killing one when you can making him suffer ?
Johnny was an insufferable faux rebel, ladiesman, blonde without real reponsibility or problem. The kind of guy you hate from high school to college.
In short, he had a target on his head from the start. I'm surprise that he had lasted that long.
He set the ton for a more serious Fantastic 3 or well 4 now but i wish Thing died as hes so not needed .
he might not even be die. which is the angle marvel will play when he comes back. all you saw was a bunch of alien monsters over swarm him. he could of made it out. will never know until they bring him back. probably in a year. they'll make a mini-series or one shot of his battle, and fight to get back to earth. it's gonna be Mclame

A better question Why did Nightcrawler have to die?Good question....I miss that blue elf.. v__v
To attempt to evolve the series which has been deadlocked within in it's own confines for some time, unable to reach past it's apex as it were, and to popularize a character who despite a fair fan base, had a weak reputation outside of it due to the former (Sue is another example, while loved the trappings of the F4 mobile kept her from any proper character development, something which the recent shift in F4/FF has allowed her to finally break free from) stigma, which will allow him a little better foundation upon his inevitable return among the readerships eyes. Personally I thought it was one of the best played deaths (and note, off panel *ahem*) I've ever seen. I actually wept and wept well after reading it and then silent for a bit.
