    "One Last Shot At Redemption"

Part Two of The Unshredded Man picks up right where the last issue left off, some one special to John Matthews is not taken as hostage and the blackmailer is getting blackmailed.  This issue spends the rest of the issue exposing the real monster that lies inside John Matthews.  I love Milligan's choice of names, John Matthews sounds so common that it is like Guy Smith in X-Statix, a generic name for the everyday man.

    The Good

The story runs really smooth and we as the reader can see the ugliness of greed and when Money is someones God.  Money itself is one universal deity, many people from all around the world value money above all else and it is great Milligan teamed up the events of 9/11 with the commercialization and greed of society. Human Target has become a smart thriller in which Milligan can weave in his social commentary and make this comic have more impact.

    The Bad

Some may say the art, but I like the cartoony look, since Human Target is about the everyday people and it is easier to see ourselves in cartoonish drawings compared to more detailed photo real drawings.

    The Verdict

I cannot recommend Human Target enough.

    Cheers

You've got me curious. The covers alone are enough to make me go, "Ooh!  What's inside?" And your reviews are so good that I'm really tempted to find out.

One question: How does the social commentary come off? Does it feel like a political agenda?

Thanks and Vertigo is currently going to reprint these very soon this is why I am working on the review.  the "social commentary" to me is very poetic, like in this issue it is on how people in business care so much about money and not life, no matter race or creed they all bow down to the all mighty dollar. With Peter, the only political agenda I ever saw in his work was to show us the ugly sides of being Human, like in his one-shot Face, it is about plastic surgery, X-Force/X-Statix is how the pop-culture market controls the market and even in Hellblazer he has made John Constantine someone who can really love, because even old men are lonely.  I would consider Peter Milligan my 3rd favorite writer after Moore first, then Morrison.  HERE is a link the first reissue trade review I donated for the VNU account, that trade is out in stories now, trade two is out soon, so there is a lot reprinted.

Thanks for checking out the review, if you read the issue and like the comic, feel free to comeback and hit the recommend button.

    Cheers.

No Problem, I feel Peter Milligan is highly underrated.  Morrison only beats him in my books because of the invisibles and now Batman, but I enjoyed Milligan's work a lot, so any reason to bring awareness to his name, is a win.  Plus his Human Target inspired the show... although the show is not as good, the show is the reason Human Target is getting reprinted, so I am celebrating the little victories.

Milligan is getting a big push, so it will not surprise me if he blows up after his Red Lantern corps books are released.

@Silkcuts: Yeah, I've been doing it the cheap way and checking the trades out at the library. I found both Blackest Night and Rage of the Red Lanterns there, so that was lucky.

You are doing it the smart way, I just am funny... if I really like something I want a hard copy, call me greedy...lol
Yeah, after Brightest Day zero I was off.... got my white ring and was like... I'll you in trade when I can budget you.  Mind you I should still look into reading it from a library, so I know what I am getting.

@Silkcuts: Nah, I get that. I liked Rage of the Red Lanterns so much that I wish I could buy a copy of it. Alas, I'm just close-to-broke, jobless 20-year-old who has to be smart about spending money on comics. LOL.
