I've been looking at some Hulk vs. Superman, Hulk vs. other-god-superhero threads lately, and alot of people just seem to say "Oh, Superman would just throw Hulk in to the sun, boom, end of story." This would NOT work. The Hulk has survived incredibly high temperatures, so the sun should be survivable (not sure of the exact cap, would be nice if someone would post it). More importantly; the sun world just make him stronger, and bigger, and stronger, and bigger! How? The sun gets its energy from nuclear fusion, the energy we see as light is only a fraction of the energy produced in the suns core, since the Earth is less than 1 square degree wide in the suns 'sphere of light' and also, light is only an infinitesimal speck on the electromagnetic spectrum. Anyway, as the Hulk gets closer to the sun's core, the radiation will increase, and when the Hulk absorbs radiation, he gets stronger, and I think his physical size also increases. The sun will emit tons of radiation, so it's possible that Hulk could become comparable to the size of planets?? I dunno, that last part was just a hypothesis, but still, my point is: SUN = AIN'T GONNA WORK
Hulk
Character » Hulk appears in 7769 issues.
After being bombarded with a massive dose of gamma radiation while saving a young man's life during an experimental bomb testing, Dr. Robert Bruce Banner was transformed into the Incredible Hulk: a green behemoth who is the living personification of rage and pure physical strength.
Why the sun isn't a good idea
Yes, the sun produces all types of electromagnetic radiation, and the closer you get to the core, the higher the ratio of All Electromagnetic Radiation:Gamma Rays. The reason for this (I watch the science channel wayyyy too much) is because the fusing of Hydrogen in the center of the sun has such a potent amount of energy, so the reactions produce Gamma Rays. However; in the Radiation and Convection layer of the sun the rays bounce from atom to atom, losing energy as they go. Some stay as Gamma, but most decay and even out into a generally well rounded variety of the magnetic spectrum, from Gamma to radio waves.
As for your question about the Hulk getting energy, I dunno. It might only be Gamma Rays but I honestly dunno.
Exactly. In WWH it was stated that nukes would make Hulk stronger so the Sun would do the same. I've been saying this in battles for ages.
Still, even if everything you say is true, Hulk has no way of overcoming the suns gravity so he basically gets to be in agony for all of time.
@JonSmith: Hulk can't fly and I don't see him having much luck trying to jump off plasma and gas with enough force to clear the sun's gravitational pull.
@The_Peter_Cosmic: No, I mean if the OP's theory is correct, wouldn't he eventually grow so huge from the constant gamma radiation exposure that the sun would be minuscule in comparison? Granted, he'd still need to push off something, but by that point he should just be able to reach over and wrap his hand around a planet to pull himself along.
@JonSmith: There's a lot of reasons why that doesn't make sense. First of all, why would he dwarf the sun in the first place? The sun has a finite amount of energy/mass so it wouldn't make sense that Hulk could get any bigger than himself plus the sun. In actuality he'd probably be much smaller because his body is much denser than gas. Second of all, there is a lot more empty space in the solar system then you are thinking. Even if he were many, many times bigger than the sun he would still be nowhere near a planet. Thirdly, if he actually could reach a planet his mass would be so much bigger than said planet that it would be like a human trying to climb up in the air by grabbing on to a fly. He wouldn't be able to climb on it, he'd just snatch it out of orbit.
Even if Hulk absorbed all the energy and mass of the sun the best he could hope for would be becoming the center of our solar system with all the planets rotating around him.
@The_Peter_Cosmic: Fair enough. I was making assumptions based on my incredibly limited knowledge of physics. Thanks for enlightening me. I appreciate it. I was under the impression the sun was producing energy every moment, so I thought the Hulk would continue to absorb said energy as it was produced to grow in size.
And you have to admit, the image of the Hulk sitting in the center of the solar system, swatting at planets as they orbit around him like flies is kind of entertaining.

If he adapts he'll probably eventually calm down... which will kill him.
If he adapts he wouldn't die.
Why are people limiting Hulk to real world logic and not comic logic? Stars can be physically manipulated in comics usually. The gravity thing should be a non factor or else we would use that argument against anybody that fights near or on the sun. Comic book sun!=real world sun. In comics just becoming stronger makes you capable of doing absurd things. So if this thing is power Hulk up he's not going to have an issue escaping it or just outright destroying it via comic book logic.
@Nomar
No, it can't be used because heroes who fight near(or at the) the sun are capable to withstand his gravity and temperature, and Gamma rays are one of the byproducts of elements decay(when they emit radiation) along with alpha and beta particles,they are considered the highest in the espectrum,higher than X-Rays.
I believe Hulk can survive the sun if his durability has been upped by his rage,the problem is he can only hold his breath so much and unlike Doomsday can't adapt to these kind of situations,even if he could,he would stay there,if any flare launched him to space he would just drift,and wouldn't be able to control which way he was going.Thus neutralizing him,now this part about him growing and growing...he has NEVER show these abilities what Gamma radiation does is give him more durability and strenght.

By the way, Hulk has survived core solar temperatures unharmed.
@dum529001
I never said he couldn't I said he wouldn't be able to return to Earth under his own power,and where did he do that,I saw several hulk respect threads and never saw he inside a star.
@TheAcidSkull
Did he actually did it,or he didn't lost his mask there?
Not saying I don't believe just that I never heard that he could do it.
Still can't get out of it under his own power.So still a valid BFR

Interesting and nice scans,so he can survive after all,but can he come back?
And that..such a low blow,I guess that's one of the reasons GR considered them guilty.
As far as we can tell about his power, it may be possible for him to become so powerful that he'd be able to jump out of the sun to earth. Though there's no way of telling what he'd be able to do if he were to absorb this much gamma.
