I had heard that Russell Crowe was cast as Bruce Banner in the "re-do" of 2003's Hulk, is this a rumor or has it been confirmed?

And dont sleep on Norton, anybody who thinks he cant play a badass, watch the beginning of American History X. It dont get much more badass then that.

I don't think it's a direct sequel. I guess too many people complained about the first one for some reason. It wasn't super but it wasn't horrible. It's not necessarily a remake either. Think it's more like a re-do. I could and hopefully be wrong. I don't want them wasting time with an origin. Just give us a decent flick with plenty of Hulk Smash.
