Does Hulk have the ability to survive and reform after a total molecular disintegration?
Hulk
Character » Hulk appears in 7771 issues.
After being bombarded with a massive dose of gamma radiation while saving a young man's life during an experimental bomb testing, Dr. Robert Bruce Banner was transformed into the Incredible Hulk: a green behemoth who is the living personification of rage and pure physical strength.
Hulk's regeneration
no,ofcourse not,the only 1s that can do that are beings with magic powers,it even sounds retarded,if his brain is destroyed,he cant reform, because of basic scientific principles.
It's true that no one can regenerate from nothing, no matter how powerful they are.
You have to have DNA, the beginning of a living cell, supplemented with the necessary building material to form the specific proteins that make up multicellular organ systems. Because Hulk's DNA&building material needed for proteins grows in strength in proportion to stress, he can always regrow all other organic matter because his DNA is always left intact.

Regeneration is maybe the wrong expression.
But DNA is not necessary for its regeneration.
Hulk can also regenerate when he was transformed into glass or stone.
Even when the Hulk was a spirit that is not stopped his ability to regenerate. Sobalt the spirit has enough (gamma) collected energy he could create a new body.
Even the things which he emerged again with her deception.

To reiterate what I said before:
In proportion to stress, HULK feeds and beefs up his body's mass and energy by way of the endless mass and energy of the universe.
And YES, it all starts with the DNA. Beefing up the DNA along the material it uses to make all other organic matter.
Hulk has an indestructible factory that makes destructible but always renewable products.
To directly respond to what you said:
Being able to be alive after supposedly being "transmutated into glass or stone" means he was not transformed on some level. Since the Hulk has been shown to metabolize transmutations means that his DNA must have been intact despite everything else being destroyed. Through the DNA, all organic matter and function follows.
@Oscars94: I didnt put real life science...im talking about comic scienceO_O.we are talking about a guy that turns green and gets 15 times bigger...if it was real, his skin would look like a sheet after his first tranformation....or worse, would get ripped even before he could tranform, and thats ignoring the instantanious muscle mass growth.

Hahahaha I laugh at your use of these "scientific principles." It's a shame when people read so many comics they can't separate the fiction from the real world.
Guess Bruce/Hulk could exist in a state of super position, all of the data for a person could theoretically exist as waves (or gamma waves hehehe), see theories of teleportation, or if you like more realist uses see quantum computing. If you put all of the hulks particles into a state of superposition he would not need to exist at all till the wave function collapsed...
But as someone who only likes the uses of quantum mechanics and special relativity and not the theoretical physics behind it I'd call it magic... Even if its magic that might technically exist one day...
Recent article in national geographic http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2013/08/130814-physics-quantum-computing-teleportation-star-trek-qubit-science/ this would mean hulk was basically Dr Manhattan I'd have to see a comic where the hulk did reappear from nothing to hold to it as a theory though

sentry did twice
Regenration absolutely requires that something be left. That something is the cell's DNA. DNA is the smallest part of biology but from that tiny thing comes everything else. For regenration to occur, DNA will be there even if you can't see it. In fact, unless your eyes are powerful enough to see things on a sub-atomic level, you definitely wouldn't be able to see it.

yeah but MOLECULE MAN the guy who evaporated sentry certainly can my friend call it bad writing or whatever but it did in fact happen twice end of story
Where is it rtuly shown that Molecule Man evaporated Sentry? All we see is Sentry getting blown up and Molecule making a commment on how Sentry molecules are different than what he usually sees.
It may have looked like it but obviously Sentry was not totally destroyed because he was still alive.
@dum529001: does it say that he was still alive in the comic? no I actually read it if you have also then prove me wrong ill wait

Sentry was alive. Read the comic. If he was totally destroyed then there would be nothing to come back from.

oh my god your retarded stop putting logic to use in a comic thread the dude died TWICE get it thru your thick skull

Hulk(idr which incarnation) has come back/regenerated from his body being disintegrated. He was literally nothing but a psionic spirit.
Likewise, Joseph has returned from his entire body being disintegrated and his mind disappearing into the Earth's electro-magnetic field.
Bottom line: In Marvel(and DC for that matter) you don't need any physical matter in order to regenerate.
You certainly don't need brain matter(as was implied in one of the first posts). Even Wolverine has completely regenerated after having his entire brain completely destroyed.
So you're saying that you know that their entire beings were disentegrated??? Do you have miscroscopic vison that allows you to see at the subatomic level?
Are you going to tell me next that if someone Hulk seriously punched at you, using his vastly more powerful superhuman musculature, your human eyes would be able to percieve the motion of that punch?
Just because you didn't see it does mean it didn't happen. Writers rarely actaully zoom in on the Hulk's DNA change right before he generates new cellaular mass when's he transforming or getting stronger.(they've done a couple of times) but you know its happening. The first parts of the transformation that the naked eye can't see are described orally most of the time rather than visually shown.

Oh my god, I'm laughing so much. Why does some of the DNA need to survive? You have been watching to much Jurassic park (or maybe Guyver I loved that manga)... You must hate all the sci fi shows like watchmen and continuum etc anything that have people appear from nowhere. Biology isn't the only science, data can be stored in so many different ways, why is it so hard to believe that a superheroes ability of regeneration stores all the information on a single indestructable molecule? The technology is nearly there already and turning atoms to energy might not even loose that information, as technically a quantum computer can save data based on electron spin and DeBroglie prooved electrons are indestructible and act like waves anyway... I am not a PHD in Physics but its not far fetched to believe a hero could heal from nothing, learn some humility everyone's views are welcome. Now I'm going to face palm my own comment for letting myself get drawn in lol...
I humbly say that I for my crimes am a geneticist and to be fair I might not know everything there is to know about my subject but I can say that there is a lot more than just DNA that dictates how an organism turns out. And in fairness in respect to a previous point many of us view the DNA as digital information storage. I also have a passion for quantum mechanics which I studied during my undergraduate degree and in terms of the possibilities of data storage (and in conjunction with genetics) the possibilities are mind boggling. Particularly when you consider that there is no such thing as a true vacuum and particles can appear from 'nothing'. I would never profess to be an expert in the realms of comics but I know enough to realise that it is pointless to combine 'real science' with the imagination of a writer that can dismiss the fundamental laws of physics at a whim. You cannot have your cake and eat it. Hell, how many alternate Earths are there in DC and Marvel???
hey guys, let's just get this straight once and for all. hulk's soul form=physically nothing, but spiritually=being. so hulk creates his new body from physical nothing. is that clear enough? or do I have to mention DNA for someone?
Hela no. Total disintegration on a molecular level? just no. you need organic matter left to regenerate. The martian manhunter can regenerate from a pile of goop or maybe even a drop of blood. But you still need the cells to be present for regeneration to happen. No character can come back from total molecular disintegration with only a healing factor. since there would be nothing left to "heal". So no. No matter how mad the Hulk gets and how much stronger his HF gets it would not save him from that.
EDIT: Also the Sentry does not even have a healing factor. his powers work through molecular manipulation so comparing that is meaningless he literally turns different molecules into a corporeal form for him. SO that doesn'tr argue for or against the use of a healing factor.
