He has the ability to manipulate energy, particularly the ability to generate quasi-sonic energy through his voice. Black Bolt can also harness the electrons for matter transformation, the controlled projection of energy and light. A mere whisper from Black Bolt can level a mountain or destroy a city. Originally Darwin seemed to be able to win when he gained the ability to absorb gamma radiation but he found that the Hulk had more then he could possibly siphon off and so the ability was useless. Darwin then involuntarily gained another ability as his body thought the best way to confront the Hulk, would be not to so he teleported to safety and for a time was missing because of this.
