Wolverine, Deadpool and Hulk at their best
Two of Marvel's biggest stars/powerhouses go at it.
The story is simple but decent. Canadian gov. sends Wolverine to fight Hulk. Both are captured by Weapon X. Wolverine has to free Hulk before Weapon X brain washes him to take over the world ("Of Course!") or something just as bad.
The animation is a strong point and works very well with the story.
A real credit to this half of "Hulk vs." is the fighting. The opening fight between the two is well done with the battle switching favor constantly. The other fights are fast paced and dose all the characters credit. You can almost feel it when Wolverine is socked in the jaw and have to cringe a little when Hulk rips Lady Deathstrikes arms off and you know just how painful it was when Hulk punched Sabertooth several miles away.
Another credit is the voice acting. As always Steven Blum is a top form Wolverine. Encorperating much of the gruff tough guy deminor that help made Wolverine popular. Really Blum is one of the best Wolverine voices to date because he really understands the character. While Mark Acheson's voice isn't as rhythmic sounding as Liev Schreiber's, he captures a real dark under tone to Sabertooth, yet making him sound a lot like a dark Wolverine (maybe they really are brothers). Janyse Jaud seemed to capture a stirring preformance as Lady Deathstrike, including really sounding like she hated Wolverine to the point of killing him becoming an obsession. While I haven't heard many Omega Red voices nor really know much about him, I do think Colin Murdock is a decent OR. And while no one really compaires to the Lou Ferrigno Hulk, Fred Tatasciore is decent.
And lastly is the show stealer himself; Deadpool. Deadpool's first animated and true appearence in something other then comics and a video game is one of the biggest reasons to watch this movie. Every scene the future Merc With a Mouth is in, he steals with his always funny humor. He's also very close to his comic counter part, even braking the fourth wall, telling the other villains to "Strike a pose." just before a scene transition. Nolan North is definatly a great Deadpool, putting a lot of energy into the character and timing the jokes just right to get that last chuckle out of the audience. Perhaps North may even voice Deadpool in his upcoming appearence in Wolverine and the X-Men.
But the movie dose have a few flaws. Such as the part where Deathstrike is stabbing Wolverine was a little wierd. (Was she having an orgasm or something? I felt like for a brief second I was watching hentai insted of Marvel.) And while the others were having a great fight scene, Deadpool was kinda left out picking up his arm (albet humorusly).
In total however Hulk vs. Wolverine was a very well done addition the Marvel's movies. A simple yet driving story, great action, strong character play on the actors' parts, few flaws and Deadpool's smashing entrence to animated Marvel the way he should be (go to hell Fox!). Definatly a solid 4.5 out of 5.
This is the Overseer, I review it...because most of you are to lazy to do it!
