The reverse Prometheus
This story is simply amazing, maybe the best Hulk story ever written. The context of the post-apocalyptic world and the relation of superheroes with the atomic age is simply brilliant.
I have just two problems with the story. The first is that the Prometheus analogy is explicit. Personally I prefer when the writer doesn't assume that the readers are completely ignorant, but rather uses implicit metaphors to add depth to the story. Prometheus is part of the Occidental cannon of literature-mythology and it's not so hard to draw conclusions from the Bugs and Hulk's regeneration scenes.
Second is the ending. If Hulk is paying for humanity's sins, then Banner shouldn't have found "peace" because Bruce (an atomic scientist) is the human part of the punishment and it's wrong to give a divided redemption to a being that in it's core it's both Man and Hulk. Then, even if you follow that path and you leave the Hulk alone, the last line, "Hulk feels cold" is again too explicit for me while it would've been much better if you ended with a Dr.Manhattan-alone-in-Mars kind of panel. Comic should relay as much as in draw as in dialog, and the finale just inclines the balance for the written side.
Apart from that, it's a must read.
