Who Is The Red Hulk?
The story begins with Doc Samson, She-Hulk, Iron Man, General Ross, and Maria Hill in Russia at the scene of a showdown between Hulk and the Abomination. The Winter Guard comes and a fight breaks out as Samson hits the Red Guardian. Doc Samson and General Ross head to the Gamma base in Nevada where Bruce Banner is being held and ask for his help. The Red Hulk starts a fight onboard the S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier and deletes the files on the Hulk. Later Thor confronts the Red Hulk and is defeated by him. Hulk breaks out of his imprisonment and seeks out the Red Hulk and defeats him.
My Thoughts:
Who is the Red Hulk? That is the big question you're left with upon reading this. Jeph Loeb's writing has the characters thinking the Red Hulk is Doc Samson but the reader thinking it's General Ross. But after finishing this comic we find out it is neither of those two. There is a lot of action in this comic as each issue has the Red Hulk taking on a new opponent. Me personally, I would have liked to see Thor beat the crap out of the Red Hulk but it was still an enjoyable comic to read. I guess Thor did come back next issue and get a few shots in but being that it's not his comic I guess it makes sense that he wasn't the one to stop the Red Hulk.
The art is by Ed McGuinness who does a great job penciling some nice action scenes. There are a lot of variant covers at the end by a handful of different artists which were really cool to see. I guess a lot of people wanted to draw their version of this new Hulk. All characters in this comic were drawn well with the exception of Maria Hill who in one panel looked like a teenage girl. Other than that McGuinness did outstanding.
Overall this is a fun action-packed comic to read that does end with a decent cliffhanger. I know I'm personally interested to find out who the Red Hulk is and continue reading this exciting series. If you like the Hulk you should check this out.
