    Horvald is a storm giant of Jotunheim that comes across the wife of Vidar Odinson at her home in the Asgard Mountains. Horvald and two fellow giants named Grolf and Aslak harass his wife, Solveig and disrespects her husband's name because he is the son of King Odin and a turncoat giantess named Grid. Grolf starts to kill her livestock and ends up killing Solveig by stabbing her with troll-iron when she fights back. Horvald steals her golden buckle which Vidar crafted for her. Vidar finds his dead wife without her belt and vows revenge.  

    Creation

    Horvald was created by Alan Zelenetz and Bob Budiansky in 1984 and first appeared in Thor Annual # 12.
