RIP Roderick Kingsley. :'(  
Words cannot convey just how angry and upset today's issue of Amazing Spider-Man #649 made me. They say a picture's worth a thousand words, right? Well, hopefully this picture I drew will help you understand where I'm coming from as well as my thoughts and feelings on the issue.

It wasn't showing up for the longest time; it kept sending me to the top of the page. And maybe you're right; maybe Kingsley did send a dupe or LMD in his stead. And I'd be on board for a Hobgoblin War.

i just read asm #649. i would have gladly written my own article about this,but this site will not allow me to create my own no matter what i do. the original hobgoblin has been my favorite super villian since his hayday in the 80's...which is to say all my life,since i was born in the early 80's. in 96' when it was revealed he was still alive that made my winter,and his appearences have been few since then. and now...they brought him back to regular spider-man continuity just to unceremoniously kill him off. and that's the half of it. to kill him in such a cheap shoddy stunt,at the hands of THAT character...anyway,it's the last straw for me. spider-man as a comic book has been going downhill for years in terms of quality to the point where i've been waiting for an excuse to never read it again. and this is it. "the most unkindest cut of all". i was already a little worried when i heard that dan slott(who i used to like when he wrote ren and stimpy) was writing this,because i'm still smarting from how he botched the return of mysterio. but nothing in my wildest dreams could have prepared me for this.i didn't even bother to read the rest of the issue. tore it into little strips. if there's a comic book hell,dan slott is going there. SIC TRANSIT GLORIA KINGSLEY.

Uric did NOT deserve this mantle. Out of every ASM Dan Slott thing I've read, I've liked them all. This is the one plot development I am not a fan of.

For the record, I thought the entire rest of the issue was pure gold. :p "Porn! MOUNTAINS OF PORN!" ... never have I laughed so hard at a Spider-man comi-- wait I take that back. Kelly's writing makes me LOL as well.

Whoa i just realised Pete and Ben both have the same middle names and were both were partially named after their Uncles

From what I've gleaned, I think you're letting your love for a single character cloud your judgment over the entire book. Even Tony disliked what happened but was able to respect the story as a whole. Granted, I just started reading Spiderman with the start of Big Time, so I guess my judgment is limited. I just know a lot of people disliked Brand New Day.

Hi, I just signed up here. I read most of the posts in this thread and boy I am shocked. I can't believe Kinglsey is dead. Roderick was my favorite Hobgoblin. Roderick was the REAL and original Hobby, and he's gone??  I refuse to believe he is dead. I hadn't read the issue, but I'm betting a writer(s) will bring him back from the dead in the future. Think about it...Doc Ock, Green Goblin, and Harry Osborne died at one point, but they were brought back years later.  Also, what makes you sure Kinglsey didn't use another brainwashed victim as his double like he did with Samuel and Ned Leeds? 
 
Another thing that bugs me is, if they wanted a new Hobgoblin, why didn't the writer have Phil Urich go into one of Roderick's secret lairs and find goblin costumes and goblin gadgets or something? What was the point of bringing back Kingsley? Why not just leave him alone and let him relaxed on his island. It would had been a happy ending for him to be sitting on an island counting his money and being surrounded by beautiful women, laughing evily.

My bad, I mean Arnold Samuel Donovan. Arnold was the first guy Hobgoblin(Roderick)  brainwashed and used as a double. When Arnold was about to recover from the brainwashing effect, Hobgoblin killed him to keep him quiet.

I cried seeing that Bastard Urich holding Kingsley's head in triuph... He should've stayed as the Sucky Goblin and stayed at that. 
 
The Only nice bonus was Kingsley's final scenes of destruction at the begining and Mac Gargan without the Symbiote in agony.

Guys, one thing I find weird....I never read any of the Phil Urich stories, but I heard he was powned by the Jason Maccendale Hobgblin. So, Phil got his butt kicked by a Hobgoblin pretender, Maccendale, but kills Kingsley(the REAL Hobby) who is smarter and stronger than Maccendale? Riiiight. Phil will never have the smarts and craftyness as Roderick. He will just be another forgettable goblin wannabe no one will care about like Bart Hamilton's Green Goblin and Jason Maccendale's Hobgoblin.
