A simian hit-man, seeking to avenge the deaths of his tribe members using skills he learned from the world's greatest assassin. He has a movie based on him in-universe. He also likes to shoot Deadpool. Sweet foot-shooting action!
He's not that bad of a character, what's so funny is that it's taken seriously. It's like a B-Movie character, and that's what I like about it.
I think people hate this idea because they were expecting something funny, but it deciding to take itself seriously. I for one think it was an interesting move by taking itself seriously, you could pretty much substitute the idea of Monkeys nursing an assassin to health with a farmer or monks or something and you'd practically have the same story. what's gives it it's charm is that instead of monks or farmers it's monkeys. You obviously can't take a monkey shooting down assassin's seriously but that's what makes it so funny. Like a said, the character has this B-Movie feel.
You guys need to stop being so pessimistic and enjoy it for what it is.

Totally agree. I'd like to see a Hit-Monkey movie that stays true to the source material.
