I Like where this is going

Okay when I first heard of Hit-Monkey my first reaction was "Why?", plus it was a character created by Daniel Way who many already know that I don't have a incredible like for. Well then I read the on shot origin story and you know what? I thought it was interesting. I was glad that they took a laughable character and made it serious and almost tragic. The idea has grow on me and I was excited for his appearance in Deadpool....boy was that a HUGE let down.

So one good story out of two stories featuring this character left me with a need to uneven the odds so I picked this up and surprise surprise it seems to be going in a neat direction.

This story is obviously going to be the origin of how Hit-Monkey got the suit, and bringing his first major fight with a killer (In this case Bullseye)  There couldn't have been a better choice for Hit-Monkey's first encounter with a super villain and I'm psyched to see where this goes.

Also I like how they made the assassin play a VERY important part in Hit-Monkeys life, he's the Obi-Wan Kenobi of this story and I'd like to see how that relationship evolves and turns out.

The artwork is awesome, the fact that Dalibor can draw a perfect Monkey anatomy shows how talented he truly is. The coloring isn't as good as the first origin story but it get's the job done and complements Dalibor Talajic's artwork really well. There is a really cool part involving flashbacks that is colored so nothing but shadows can be seen that was pretty cool too.

My only complaint is that it get's kind of weird reading Hit-Monkey's sound effects. it's kind of cliche having the monkey say nothing but "ook". I've seen a lot of monkeys and they barely say anything. It would probably be better if Hit-Monkey said nothing.

I'm part of the minority in saying that I for one enjoy this new character, it's like a old B-Movie. It takes itself seriously even though it's a ridiculous concept, and only around to create some mindless entertainment. It's mindless but enjoyable, it's heart is in the right place and the character is FAR more interesting then Daniel Way's other character Daken.  I'm interested on seeing where this goes and definitely going to be buying the next two issues.
