I'm also not sure about this new direction Batgirl is going. This first issue was not bad, but wasn't great either.

This is completely different from Gail Simone's run, which I loved. Barbara doesn't even feel like he way she has been in the New 52. This is like a total different character. This could have easily been Steph Brown. DC -_-

It's cool that DC is TRYING diversifying their books like Marvel, but it feels forced. I think this new direction will pull in new TEENAGE readers. The new look is very trendy and made for comic readers from Tumblr, twitter, and such. The tone is not made for me, but let's see how next issue goes.

BTW this book had soooo many little panels with overwhelming texts. They need to tone that down. That style really turns me off from reading.

This is the only Batgirl issue I've read so I can't say if it feels like the character isn't written quite right like some other people are saying, but I really liked this! The diversity does feel a tiiiny bit forced, but it's nice none the less. LOVE THE ART, and the modern aspect (which I thought I'd hate but it was nice)...

Every single element of this comic book, from start to finish, from the look to the dialogue to the themes to the tensions, all of it fits Stephanie Brown far better than it does Barbara Gordon. That's something people have been saying ever since Batgirl's costume redesign became public, but I think it was only after BleedingCool leaked those 10 pages of the first issue that it became evident how much of a complete sort of tonal dissonance existed between the kind of person Barbara Gordon is and...
