I like the fact that Luke Cage is from the streets, and that his adventures and beginnings revolve around that. Its nice to see him taking on heavy hitting villains in today's world, but his experiences from the past is what builds the character. His origin comic has got to be one of the best because it has a backdrop that African-Americans who have lived in the streets can somewhat relate to. It is a traditional beginning, and isn't mocked by a cheesey story. Luke Cage has a powerful opening, and the supporting cast are almost just as interesting. I would even go so far to say that I would read a short mini series on Shades & Comanche, along with a mini series envolving Cage's days with Stryker.
The comic is a nice beginning, and even engulfs people with its opening title, "Out of Hell---A Hero".
