Hermes is the Messenger God of the Greeks.
Hermes was attempting to reach Zola who is pregnant with Zeus latest illegitimate child; however, he is ambushed by Hera's creations and is critically injured. After Wonder Woman intervens and destroys Hera's creation he reveals that Zola is pregnant with Zues child. From there he is taken to Themyscira where his injuries are treated.
Hermes is one of the twelve main Gods and Goddess of the Greek Pantheon. He is also considered the God of Magic, Travel, Merchants, and Thieves. He is most notable with his tricks and light attitude. During the reboot of Wonder Woman following Crisis on Infinite Earths, Hermes is shown to be one of the gods that blessed Diana upon her birth, giving her the powers of speed and flight. Later when Mt. Olympus was destroyed by Darkseid, the Greek gods decided to destroy Mt. Olympus in order that it can be rebuilt. This requires the gods to depart the plane for an indefinite amount of time. Hermes was the only one who dissented, choosing instead to stay on Earth. Part of this is that he is enamored with Diana, but he also wants to reassert the connection between men and gods. He is often seen trying to reconstruct a demolished temple in New Hampshire, and he moves in with Steve Trevor for some time.
Hermes and the five Goddesses granted Wonder Woman her powers and abilities. Hermes granted Wonder Woman speed and the power of flight.
Hermes is immortal and cannot die of natural causes, but he also has the ability to fly and move at great speeds.
