My choice will be John Cena or Dwayne Johnson.
Hercules
Character » Hercules appears in 1962 issues.
One of six Olympian sons of Zeus, Hercules was born the savior of the Gods and mankind. Known as the Prince of Power, Hercules is one of the strongest beings in existence, an Olympian God and a modern superhero recognized throughout the world for his might. He has been a champion of mankind since ancient times and continues to defend the world in the modern age - most frequently as a member of the Avengers.
Who will play Hercules in a marvel movie?
It's too bad the best choice had to grow old and die.
Steve Reeves was the person/bodybuilder/actor whom Marvel's Hercules was modeled after and there will never be a better choice.
None of today's actors can even approach, let alone match, Steve Reeves' combination of facial features and physique when it comes to the portrayal of Hercules.

I third Joe. He's got the physique. The somewhat aged look and with a little make up he could look like Herc does in the comics. Not to mention he's a halfway decent actor based on his showings with supernatural beings.

This man speaks the truth!!!
Anyway as for the Marvel Herc movie. While it would be easy for Marvel to do a Hercules movie considering that he's already a household name, they would need to do something a LOT different with him to make the movie different from Thor. I see it like this,
Herc has decided to come back to Earth because news of the Avengers exploits has reached Olympus. He thinks life on Olympus to be dull and boring and goes to Earth to find adventure and battle like his mortal days on Earth. Really it's a good a set up as any, with Herc trying to find a great adventure and trying to prove to the modern world he's a god.

I like that set-up; It would work fine in a future "Avengers" movie.
Something I'd like to see added to and used in the scenario you described is having part of Hercules motivation being an urge to test his strength against the Hulk.
If Hercules were to be a character in a future "Thor" movie, I think the same or similar set-up and motivations would work to bring Hercules and Thor into contact.

Yeah like Herc hearing that Hulk is being called the "Strongest One there is" and naturally sees this as an interesting challenge as no other mortal, save himself in his demigod days, has held claim to that title.
The problem with that is, if they have Herc and Hulk fighting. There will be a huge amounts of complaining and what not on both sides, if either Herc or Hulk wins. For Hercules, he is pretty much known around the world, his story is well known, his name is pretty much the definition of strength, so therefore those who don't read the comics of Hulk will only really see him as some strong green guy. Whereas your gonna have Hulk fans complain, that if Herc wins about how could the strongest one there is lose to someone else in a brawl, and then they will go off on all of Hulk's different incarnations and all that noise.@PowerHerc said:

Unless of course the fight would end in a draw, I don't see it getting a good reception for either side.
@Wolfrazer: Well nothing is saying Hulk even has to be in the movie, or even called Hulk by Hercules. He could just say he's looking for "The Green One who claims he is the Strongest One there is" and have him encounter some other thing such as maybe Ares planning something or even have him on the run from SHIELD for causing some super powered property damage by accident and teaming up with Amadeus Cho in an action buddy movie.

Yes, I agree that a Hercules vs Hulk battle could generate a bit of controversy but it's likely that, in true Marvel fashion, their fight would indeed end in a draw.
@powerherc: That's exactly what I thought during that scene.

I knew I couldn't be the only person who thought it. :)

This would lead to a Superman Hercules crossover.........

Not if Cavill played both characters.

Yeah, I had realized that but Christopher's last name was Reeve, without an "s" at the end.

Oh my bad but still similar it's convenient :p
Yes, they are similar.
Did you know the name of the actor whom played Superman in the 1950's television show was named George Reeves?
Yes, they are similar.

Yes I did know but it must have slipped my mind.
I found Henry Cavill to be a fantastic Superman easily the best since Christopher Reeves as good if not better IMO

Cavill is a great Superman!
@powerherc: Glad we finally had one who could match Christopher Reeve, Tom Weilling and Brandon Routh were good but paled in comparison to Christopher and Henry Cavill.

I agree. I liked Welling in Smallville but I doubt he would've done as good a job as Cavill did.
@powerherc: Cavill is alot better than Weilling that's not a knock on Weilling by any means but compared to Cavill there's no contest.

Agree 100%. Welling is good. Cavill is better. A lot better.

Yep :)
I would pick Henry Cavill. The guy did excellent on Superman, why not Hercules? Not like Marvel and DC are planning a Superman/Hercules crossover.
To add to the whole Hercules vs Hulk thing above, I think that would play out as an awesome Episode in the Avengers Assemble Cartoon where Hulk is more intelligent than his movie counter part. However as far as a Movie, I can't see Marvel doing anything between the two that would be significantly different than what they had Thor and Hulk do in the Avengers Movie.
As far as who should win such an Encounter, well, that depends on circumstance. If Hercules were to fight Hulk to win in a Scenario like Abomination or Thor fought him in the movies (Recently changed from Banner to Hulk), I personally think it should be a hefty stomp for Hercules (if he was there to give Hulk a beating). Personally I would prefer Hercules to be like a Stat for Stat equal with World War Hulk (Hulk Incarnation, not how Hercules was displayed in the World War Hulk Series), possibly even a bit (a bit) better as far as comics go.
On a somewhat related Note, I would love like a Hybrid Hercules of Marvels Hercules (personality), and DC's (Power). I think that would be incredible, and I hope if/when DC introduced Heracles in New 52, they make him how he was suppose to be made. By that I mean, like the Ancient Equivalent of Superman and not some egotistical super strong rapist >.>
When ever I think of a Marvel Hercules film I always picture the opening scene of Gerard Butler laying in a bed quilt covering his modesty and an alarm goes of he wakes up and smashes it and the cabinet it's on with barely a touch (just to let the audience know he has his powers) slowly gets up you notice he had a girl in the bed he puts on his skirt and brushes his teeth.
I think this would indicate he's been on earth for a while and instead of trying to explain he's from Olympus and so on that could slowly be worked out by the audience as it goes on. It shouldn't be a origins type story, straight in to it.
Any way I think he's just enjoying life and he's a little depressed there is no monster to slay so all he does is drink and womanise then some point he sees the news of the avengers in New York and he gets excited and decides to become a "hero" again. Don't know who the best villain would be for this, any ideas?
I like your idea. Butler would be a good choice to play Marvel's Hercules.
I was actually coming in to this thread to recommend that but for the life of me I couldn't think of his name...I just kept picturing the dude from 300 in my head
