One of six Olympian sons of Zeus, Hercules was born the savior of the Gods and mankind. Known as the Prince of Power, Hercules is one of the strongest beings in existence, an Olympian God and a modern superhero recognized throughout the world for his might. He has been a champion of mankind since ancient times and continues to defend the world in the modern age - most frequently as a member of the Avengers.
Hercules adding "God of Heroes" to his resume is appropriate. I think I read somewhere once that the very term "hero" was derived from either Hercules or Heracles. If thats true, then what could be more appropriate than Hercules being the God of Heroes along with already being God of Strength and Labor. By doing this Marvel elevates Hercules's stature in the MU while simutaneously making their version of Hercules unique when compared to the other versions (i.e.; DC, Filmation, Radical, Image, Disney, Charlton and Classical Mythology).
@PowerHerc: Agreed! A very good move on Marvel's part! And I am ecstatic that Herc will be the Leader of the God Squad, not Thor! Herc is far older than Thor and has both more experience and a wider variety of combat skills, such as archery, javelin and wrestling, to name a few. I feel that it is entirely appropriate. What would be really cool is if Herc gained the ability to share a portion of his strength with others.
@thestarguy: The ability to share his strength with others . . .Hm . . . very interesting. I'd never thought of that, but now that you've suggested it and I've considered it, I think that's a fine idea!
What could be more godly than bestowing powers/abilities/gifts on others? Nothing.
Herc having the ability to do this would be very cool and it would'nt even have to effect his level of strength. That is to say Herc's strength is incalcuable/infinite so he could share his power without lowering it. Consider; what is half of infinity? The answer; still infinite. Hence, half (or any other fraction fo that matter) of infinite strength is still infinite strength. If this is the case Herc could theoretically share his strength with any number of beings to any degree without reducing his own strength.
