Hercules at full power?

#1 Edited by Wolfrazer (7729 posts) - - Show Bio

So am under the impression, that this Hercules has never been at full godhood status(otherwise why would he lose to mortals?). So the question being here is, has Marvel ever actually put him as being a god? Or has he actually been a full god(except for the times he has been depowered) as of thus far?

Hercules has been a full God since he first appeared in the Thor comics. Mortals beat gods all the time ie. Hulk (a mortal) vs any god (Ares and Thor). Zeus gave Herc his full "Godhood" when a Centaur tricks Hercs wife into giving herc a shirt with Hydra blood which, in a sense, kills Herc and torchers him (im assuming for what would be an eternity). So Zeus takes pity on him a saves him by giving him his full "Godhood".

Yes I know the story, but if that is true. Then Herc as full fledged god, shouldn't be beaten by mortals. He is the strongest out of all the Olympians(save for Zeus), so therefore he should be stronger then any mortal on Earth, which was why I am asking if Marvel has had him at full godhood at all or what. If so, then the writers must have dumbed down his godhood.

@Wolfrazer: He is stronger than any Mortal with the exception of Hulk.

Marvel's Hercules was a full-fledged God when he was introduced in 1965 and has always been a full-fledged god except for the 2 or 3 times he's been stripped of his immortality or depowered.

Hercules can normally engage and angry savage hulk (Though i don't know if this would be the same now)

Sadly, in Marvel being a god does not mean much. Most of the beings called gods are only slightly strong immortal beings. The high-level of power most people associate with gods only comes into play if a villain is seeking to become a god or you have another uberpowerful god battling another. Otherwise, even the gods with vast powers tend to forget they have them when they would be useful. Hercules gets a pass on being limited to the physical because his strength is godlike when compared to mortals or other gods.

it's a shame, hercules was so awesome with his friend amadeus. Marvel are just biased and obsessed with norse mythology -_-... + the movies are making them concentrate all their love for gods towards asgardians. No love for olympians, deviants, eternals, Egyptian gods... damn them =(

same, marvel choose thor originally as one of their front runners because of the popularity of hercules at the time. Unfortunately now he is forgotten, due to the popularity of the avengers movie and thor. Hopefully with the movie adaption of hercules in radical comics, hercules' popularity will see a resurgence.

For me Hercules has never been at full power. He would not want to be. Unlike other Gods Herc was once a human who got his Godhood after he died. Like the mortals around him he knew of and felt the wrath of the Gods. And understands why humans fear them. His mother and he almost killed when he was still in the womb!!!
To prove my point his fellow Olympians can morph to any size, shape, and object (Zeus once turned himself into golden rain), they also have magic powers. Though some are better at it then others. They are pre-cogs, again though some are better at it then others. When was the last time Hercules shown these abilities?
Even though he is proud to be a God, he still will not forget who and where he came from.

Yes, Hopefully the Hercules movie (based on Radical's version) will be very successful which will no doubt prompt Marvel into re-introducing their Hercules (hopefully at full power) in "Marvel Now" and maybe even cause them to use him in a movie.

Do you remember when Marvel changed their Hercules in the mid-90's to resemble the Kevin Sorbo Hercules from "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys" in an attempt to capitalize on that televisions show's popularity? I could definitely see them doing something similar this time, too.
