    Hel is the daughter of Loki, and Norse Goddess of the dead: specifically, those who don't die in battle. She is usually portrayed as half alive and half dead. When Balder died, she refused to let him come back to life unless every living being cried for him. She needed to get her father to keep that from happening!

    Name: Hel. Also Hela.

    Symbols: The main symbol of Hel was her decomposing body.

    Area Of Control: death, underworld and souls.

    Usual Image: Hel was thought of as a woman with decomposing body, and wearing a veil.

    Holy Books: The Edda, as well as poems and sagas.
