The paranormal activity in the outwardly charming town of Burden Hill has gone from bad to worse, as seen in Dorkin and Thompson's hardcover graphic novel Beasts of Burden: Animal Rites. Now the occult--investigating team of dogs (and one cat) need some serious help. Contact with the Wise Dog Society has broken off, leaving the team on its own, as a series of unexplained animal slayings have begun to occur. But magic can work in surprising ways, and help is brought to the team with the unexpected arrival of the World's Greatest Paranormal Detective.

Evan Dorkin (Milk and Cheese, Bizarro World) and Jill Thompson (Scary Godmother, Magic Trixie) join forces with Mike Mignola (Hellboy, B.P.R.D., Witchfinder, Baltimore) in an amazing one--shot bringing their supernatural worlds together!

Mike Mignola's Hellboy joins the animals' of Burden Hill!

    Hellboy in Burden? 0

Welcome to Burden, a small town in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. It is smart of this comic to start off with Hellboy since he is the more known from the two comic series.  Beasts of Burden being the lesser known was a four-issue mini written by Evan Dorkin and wonderfully water-colored by Jill Thompson. This is a brilliant team up of two Paranormal activity Detectives: One being big and red, the others a pack of household pets. The Story is solid, very entertaining, Evan Dorkin and J...

Hellboy Teams Up With Animals...Excellent! 0

It might seem a little surprising to see Hellboy and the Beasts of Burden team up but once you get into it, it makes perfect sense.  The Good Hellboy and the Beasts of Burden both investigate the paranormal. Why not have a crossover with these two titles? There isn't a lot of story development leading up to why they are teaming up but it wasn't necessary. The meeting was believable and allows you to jump right into the story. Jill Thompson's art and colors give the feeling that each panel is a w...

    Beasts of Brilliance 0

I speak to you now, as a Hellboy Fan. I have loved and enjoyed everything Hellboy since I first laid my eyes on the lovely scribblings of Mignola when I bought Conqueror Worm before the Movie, and promptly bought every other Hellboy comic and Peripheral POS since then. Some of it has been less than enjoyable, I wasn't overly taken with the whole Witchfinder thing.  BUT we are not discussing that. We're discussing the Beast of Burden crossover. What did it have? Action, Adventure, Actual realisti...
