I don't read Hellboy, as im sure not everyone here does, so someone answer this, why must he die in the comics?

Who says the has to die in the film? I highly doubt Hollywood executives would allow him to do that anyway...

The movie would completely rob the comic book death of it's impact, but I don't understand why he would have to die in the third movie. My biggest gripe is the fact he and Liz would have a kid in #3.

i'd love to see a Hellboy III, but he should definitely dies in the comic first if that's what Mignola wants to do.

This is pretty difficult, because I personally don't read Hellboy, but abasolutely love the movies.  I think del Toro really hit his stride with Hellboy II, and to see him not be able to do the follow-up after that terrific effort is really sad to me. 
Then again, I completely understand why it likely won't happen.  Mignola is in control of the character, and it really should be up to him to have the character end in his own way.

I hope there's a 3, but I don't see why he would have to die in the movie-verse. Surely Mignola could say "Sure, do a 3rd but don't kill him, that's my story".

I don't want to see a Hellboy 3 if it means that Mike Mignola is going to have the ending he envisions adversely affected.  As the creator, he deserves that bit of glory, at the very least.

 I don't understand why he has to die in the movies.  There is no law that says the movies have to cover the entire history of the comics version in their alloted run.   Why can't it just cover the early part of his life and let Mignola tell the end part? 
 
For example, I thought it was a mistake for the X-Men movies to bring in elements of the Phoenix storyline so soon.  Let us see them have more adventures as a team than killing off Phoenix and Cyclops after only 3 movies.

wow.  funny that they rushed to make the first hellboy movies when they new it wasn't an infinite comic.  
also i dont see why pearlman's involvement should be the contingent of making the movie. 

Would be nice if they rocked another one of them Hellboy Animated kind of deals, I loved those.

I don't think I understand why he has to die at all. To be honest as a huge fan of the book,s it'll kinda ruin it for me to a degree.

Guillermo doesn't have to kill Red.  Does anyone remember before all this hobbit snafu business when Del Toro talked at length about doing a Hellboy movie where he fights the classic Universal Monsters?  I like that idea lots.

I wouldn't have a problem with Hellboy dying in the end, as Del Toro doesn't direct. I have no problem with his directing. It's his special effects. All of his films look like Pan's Labyrinth.

I hope so. I thought the second film was amazing. Really funny, and the action was well shot. 

Ok so Hellboy is completely awesome.... and to kill him in the thrid movie? AND in the comics? I've never read the comics so he can die if that is to be but not in the movie seriously I mean who hates it when they kill the main character in your favorite movie? They didn't kill Indiana Jones so why should they kill Hellboy?

doesn't Hellboy have a plethora of stories, I guess it is Del Toro's vision and he is adamant to the script. I say make another script.
