My new fear of metal coat hangers

Paul Jenkin's came into Hellblazer a rookie writer and he was given a few very important Milestones.  Issue 100 being this thicker beast of a comic and then later issue #120.  This one is the one more imporant "Sins of the Father" issue.  John's father has been long dead and yet the bugger still is making John's life a living hell.

This issue is seriously twisted.  The horror is simple, it is just involving a metal coat hanger.  Paul Jenkins set is up nicely with the issue before, commenting on a t-shirt that has a coat hanger with the censor circle on it (you know the red circle with the slash).

    You'll dream of this.
    You'll dream of this.

This issue is a self-contained issue.  John is in a coma and he is dying.  While "dying" he is visiting his father in Hell.  Hanging, strung up like the Arse he is, he torments John and discloses vital information.  This shocking revelation is important to the John Constantine Mythos.  That alone makes it a must.

Sean Phillips is one of the best interior artist Hellblazer has ever had.  His art always allows enough shadow and light.  He is a great judge of this contrast.

Hellblazer is the longest uninterrupted Horror title running.  It has managed to stay fresh with rotating writers and artist.  New ways to scare us are shaped by this series.  If can find this milestone issue, pick it up.  It is a Must!

    4.5/5
    Cheers!
