Heimdall is a comic book character that first appeared in Journey into Mystery #85
The Norse God of Vigilance, and Keeper to the Bifrost (Rainbow) Bridge linking Asgard and Midgard (Earth).
History
Heimdall was born gifted with senses so acute that they border on the extrasensory. Due to these gifts he was appointed as guardian of Asgard's Rainbow Bridge. Before the bridges destruction Heimdall stood at his post for millenia, leaving only once to complete a mission given him by Odin.
