Is the run of Geoff pretty good or not?
Hawkman
Character » Hawkman appears in 1983 issues.
Carter Hall, now infused with the mysterious Nth Metal, is granted flight, strength and a living armor. He battles dangerous threats, both alien and mystical, as the savage Hawkman.
Geoff johns hawkman
Never read it, but considering that it LITERALLY saved Hawkman from being forbidden from being written about, it has to have at least some saving graces.

What do you mean?
@Gambit1024: Hawkman's backstory had become so convoluted that editorial didn't want to use him. They introduced Zauriel to be a replacement Hawkman. When Geoff Johns came along, he integrated all of Hawkman's weird origins into one, allowing Hawkman to return.
@Icarusflies: Really? Well, I guess if anybody can do something like that, it'd be Johns. Weird backstories seem to be his specialty. And Zauriel? He was nothing like Hawkman, other than the fact that he had wings.
John's run was rather solid , he made Hawkman make sense and did some great things with the love story between Carter and Shay-era
@Gambit1024: He was originally I guess. I'm not making that up, writers have admitted that's what Zauriel was for.
I have read the entire run and it was great. Hawkman is a bad ass and Johns wrote him very well and I love Rags's art. Hawkman had his own city to protect and it was developing nicely until they changed it to Hawkgirl and then it turned to crap. If you have not read it I would suggest that you do
Imo Geoff's is the best I've read on this character. I've read Vol.1 (issues 1 thru 6)Vol.2(issues 7 thru 14) and Vol.3 (15 thru 22) 1-14 being the best. It had two of my favorite villains in it Shadow-Thief and the Gentleman Ghost.
John's run with Hawkman, known as Vol. 4, was probably the best of the Hawkman runs. It's shame how DC has gone and ruined it with the way they depict Hawkman in Legends of Tomorrow and Injustice. It's almost like they are trying to destroy one of the most iconic characters in DC Comics and just run with Hawkgirl. Which didn't work in the past.
