What´s the Tale Robin Hood?
Carter and Kendra are back t othe city of St. Roch, where Kendra´s parents were murdered 10 years ago, but the trail of their lead and investigation went dead, since Danny wasn´t the one responsible for warning Kendra´s folk back then, now the birds must team up with Green Arrow in order to discover who´s behind the 5 murders of important people of this southern town - first off, it´s important to point out that Carter and Oliver don´t quite go along very much, in fact, they almost killed each other in this encounter, so you can imagine that Johns used this tension and mutual dislike as a catalyst for amazing, fun and acid dialogues, with themes such as their adventures with the League from the fact that Carter shouldn´t be "playing" with Kendra (this is a great feat of this issue, excellent dialogues from first page to the last) - that being said, I guess I should tell a little about the art, but I´ll start by saying good things about the colorist, Mr. John Kalisz: this is an artist that truly knows how to use colors to creat an environment, if you read the last 4 issues, the color samples that he used were more brighter, exploring the nature colors (they were in India most of the time), now, in the middle of a carnival like Mardi Grass, Kalisz explores a much more darker set of colors, giving life to one of the most beautiful issues I´ve laid eyes on, the colors here really impressed me, making the characters more alive and highlighting the great art of Rags and Bair (a great duo). Now, about Rags, this was in my opinion his best issue in this series so far, even counting the fact that he exagerated in the double spread pages (usually it´s only one, in this issue there are 4), but it´s all worth it: he pencils the best Green Arrow and Hawkman ever, their action scenes are very good, also Rags brings a lot of dynamics to the storytelling. Awesome issue, if you´re a fan of these characters, go ahead and pick this up (this is part one of two). Highly Recommended!
