    Hawkgirl is the reincarnated spirit of Chay-Ara. Born on Thanagar, she gained the rank of lieutenant in her world and was subsequently sent to Earth on a mission, but during her stay, she grew to love Earth and care for its inhabitants, eventually becoming known to the people as the superheroine Hawkgirl.

    why cant HawkGirl fly with her wings, the site says that she needs Nth metal to fly. If she cant use her wings why does she have them it seems useless

    @Psyker star: if you had read a little further  you would have seen that her wings are inorganic and used only for air agility. They help her to control her flight more effectively.

    What about the flight ring that exists in the universe right or they could have given her some sort of flight pack or just some stabilizers why those huge wings?

    Cuz that's what they do. Its tradition. Why doesn't Batman just use a flight ring instead of batarangs and cables and cars and jets? Because he's Batman.

    The flight rings are only used by Legionnaires (most of whom are from the 31st century, with exception of Superman and Supergirl) and Booster Gold (who's a time traveler)...since Hawkgirl's a present time character it wouldn't make that much sense if she had one. Besides, the wings look cool ;P
