A combination of Preacher Daniel Kilgore and his dead brother Kurt, brought together with ectoplasm. The two share a body and are in constant struggle for control.
Haunted thoughts?
After reading the CBR review the other day, I kind of felt disappointed going in, but after reading the issue, I thought this was a pretty solid first issue. Sure the art was hit or miss. I think Ottley is holding back to try and blend in with McFarlane's inks. I'm hoping he'll really let loose in the coming months and let his distinct pencils work their magic on this book.
From a writing stand point, I think Kirkman has done it again. He's really one of the best writers in the business right now and he just continues to prove that with this issue. Lots of setup in this one. Plenty of little nuggets to further the story down the line. I look forward to seeing where they go with this one.
I'd give it an 8 out of 10.

It has little to no originality to the concept. It's Venom mixed with Spawn. Can't expect anything less from McFarlane and Kirkman. While they're both respectively great at what they do, they're not known for their originality. I enjoyed the first two issues, all in all."

Todd McFarlane created Venom! How can he rip off himself?!
The reason for the Marvel company walk-off and creation of
Image comics in the first place was because Marvel had
taken creative control and ownership of characters McFarlane
and Co. came up with, hence why they made alot of characters
like Marvel ones - to return fire.
Outside of that fact, this character other than appearance (which
is Todd's baby anyways) is nothing like Venom. This might be my
favorite new series, and i highly recommend it, especially to fans
of the original Venom.

" I'M a fan of the original Venom! Is it that good? I need something to distract me from the failure that Mac Gargan-Venom emenates. "As a Venom fan and a Haunt fan, let me tell you....it's that good.
" @CATMANEXE: Never said I didn't like him just that his powers and look are alot like Venom "Re: you said he's a rip off of Venom. let me be clear. Todd McFarlane created venom.
Todd McFarlane created Haunt. thats like saying Carnage is a rip-off of Venom.
theyre family.
" @CATMANEXE: Never said I didn't like him just that his powers and look are alot like Venom "Actually they are quite far from each other. Venom is alien symbiote while Hunt is dead spirit inhabiting living, I'm presuming that those tendrils are a form of ectoplasm. Looks: again two different things, one has spider motif while other has a whirl on his chest. Only thing they have common is black and white theme.
Surprising good. And fun.
I was ready to hate it, to call it silly mix on talents (Kirkman, Capullo, McFarlane...) for a mixed type of character (Venom, Spawn, Spidey, etc..)..but as I was reading the trade I actually really liked it!
Reminded me why and how Spawn was able to mark and succeed during the 90s originally. Because it was a great entertaining read! :P
