Harry Osborn

Origin

Harry Osborn enrolled in Empire State University with his friend Gwen Stacy. They rapidly became friends with Flash Thompson. Flash was a star football player and tried to introduce Peter Parker to Gwen and Harry. Peter was worried about his Aunt May being poisoned by his radioactive blood at the time and so didn’t respond to Flash's attempt at introductions very well. Gwen, Harry and Flash didn’t appreciate Peter's seemingly "snobbish" attitude towards them at the time.

As a consequence of Peter's apparent snobbish attitude, Flash and Harry tried to annoy Peter. Little by little though, Peter reconciled with Harry and they became friends. That is why when Green Goblin, Harry’s father, paid for a huge apartment for two, Harry asked Peter to be his housemate and Peter accepted.

Everything in Harry's life seemed great. He had good friends, and a gorgeous girlfriend ( Mary Jane). But then MJ dumped him and his father started putting intemse pressure on him by laying all of his hopes on Harry. As a consequence of all this, Harry fell on drugs. Harry went to Detox which healed him physically but left him still psychologically weak.

After the death of the Green Goblin (Norman Osborn) during a battle against Spider-Man and the discovery of the real identity of Spider-Man, Harry Osborn became totally mad. He decided to follow in the footsteps of his father and become the new Green Goblin. He was defeated by Spider-Man and Harry ended up in a psychiatric hospital.

With the help of Simon Cowell, Harry would regain his previous life. He met Liz Allen and she became his girlfriend. Harry proposed to her and Liz accepted. Harry and Liz had a child together, Norman Osborn Jr.

When Hobgoblin tried to obtain the Green Goblin formula from Harry, Harry decided to again wear the costume of Green Goblin in order to protect his family. But Harry fell into madness and began to attack Spider-Man. During a battle, Harry launched a bomb inside the Osborn Foundation where Norman Osborn Jr and Spider-Man were. Realizing what he had done, Harry regained his sanity and saved everyone including spiderman. Harry collapsed dead outside the building, poisoned by the Green Goblin formula. He died in the end.

The Brand New Day arc actually resurrected Harry (seemingly to have never died so technically he was not resurrected i guess) he was "actually" studying abroad and getting his life back in order, or as normal as a millionaire play boy with super powers, and son of insane "ex-super villain" father with ultimate power and control could.  Harry comes back into Peters life seemingly never to have died, recovered from his drug addiction and made amends for his actions as the 2nd Green Goblin. As usual he is still quite the ladies man and the foil to his best-est friend in the world Peter Parker. Of course for anyone in Peter Parkers life things are never boring or quiet for very long. Harry is actually in a good place in his life but of course this does not last, he has found found love with a girl named Lily Hollister whose father is running for mayor. His dad, Norman Osborn aka Green Goblin aka Iron Patriot dis mantling S.H.I.E.L.D, forming H.A.M.M.E.R in its place and rising to power during Dark Reign this is only part of Harry's troubles.   While he maybe happy a new foe starts creating discord for Spider-man, the Hollister campaign and well everyone in the city. The new mysterious foe is another Goblin type enemy named Menace, of course Peter fears it to be Harry, which it is not, but things do not get better from there. While attacking the Hollister campaign Harry actually resorts to once again wearing his goblin outfit and hopping on a goblin glider to help Spider-man stop Menace, though this goblin "flash back" moment is temporary it still worries Peter.  Even more amazing it still get worse for Harry...one night he walks in on Lily changing, but she was not changing clothes she was changing from her Menace form. MENACE IS HARRY'S GIRLFRIEND LILY.  He watched in horror as she was not wearing a costume but she physically changed shape, from the horrid gray horned goblin into the beautiful blond Lily. Lily reveals she was exposed to the goblin formula when she happened to come across a cache of hidden goblin gear but the two work things out...sort of. They decide she has to somehow be cured of her goblin abilities but......They break up then get back together get engaged and unengaged and Harry even becomes a father to be when she reveals that she is pregnant with Harry's child. The news of her pregnancy causes him to think differently and do something he hoped he would not have to. 
Lily's pregnancy leads Harry to join his father’s regime, Norman had offered him a spot in his "company" but Harry declined, but in his time of need he felt he had to. Harry is surprised to hear his father to be happy he joined but more shocked when he said he was proud of him.  Norman even had a plan for Harry which involved something called the "American Son" project. He joins his dad but actually, Harry's main focus is to help cure and protect Lily and their child she is carrying. Harry is actually and unknowingly playing into his father’s hand as he becomes the pawn Norman was hoping for. Spider man infiltrates Avenger Tower to get Harry out of there but is eventually found out, mainly due to Harry calling him out by saying: "That's not your Spider Man."
While Spider man is beaten and tortured Harry learns a lot......i mean A LOT. Revelations galore, it is eventually revealed how truly heartless and selfish his father, Norman, actually is. Norman had planned on using Harry as a new addition to the Avengers not because he would be a good addition but because having a patriotic father son duo as the face of the Avengers would help with Normans public image and relations. He also thought he would seem more palatable to the public with the America Son by his side because of his past. The creepiest part was Normans back up plan for his son, of course Norman planned for Harry's betrayal or his lack of "results" as American Son. He decided that if Harry did not suffice or double cross him he would have Harry become an "example hero" of sorts and actually become a martyr to help his father’s image, basically he would have Harry killed and make it seem like he died a noble death. Possibly the worst revelation is Harry can look forward to the birth of his new baby brother not his son...pretty not cool how that goes down. Menace/Lily has had a further transformation thanks to tampering courtesy of Norman. Turns out Lily never wanted cured and Norman used her to get Harry to join him. So basically Harry is not only heart broken but also betrayed, and used. His experience and turmoil with the Avengers comes to an explosive and brutal conclusion with armor vs armor, ex goblin vs ex goblin, father vs son  Iron Patriot vs American Son battle that ends quite unexpectedly.  Harry of course dons the American Son armor, but for a more detailed account refer to the American Son character profile.

Sometime later Harry decides to go to a psychiatrist to help him with his recent ordeal while there he is offered narcotics by the doctor (who was unaware of his past addiction issues) and Harry inclines and accepts the prescription. Since the falling out with his father Harry no longer has millions in the bank. He is now a hard working janitor at a coffee shop but a surprise visit from the newly returned Mary Jane Watson reveals how desperate he has become. Harry has had to resort to living in the janitors office. Luckily for Harry Peter actually offers his old room at Aunt Mays house for him to stay at. Harry of course accepts graciously and lets Pete know hes a great friend but turns out it was not Peter...but it was Peter...well his face at least. The real Peter had been kidnapped by his old nemesis the Chameleon, sure he thought he had killed Peter like he does most identities he takes but he always help that person out or those he associates with. Well after Peter dispatched the Chameleon he starts looking for a new place to stay and one stop he makes is at his Aunt Mays. To Peters surprise he sees Harry on the couch getting cozy with his cousins and he realizes what the Chameleon did so Peter leaves still searching for a new home. Back to the danger part of being friends with Peter Parker, while Peter/Spider-man deals with a new foe, Raptor, who thinks Pete is Ben Riley and killed his family he goes after Aunt Mays house. Peter rushes to make sure his family is alright but Raptor is already there holding Peters cousins and Harry at gun point. Luckily during the conflict between Kaine, Peter and Raptor they all get set free and all thanks to Harry tackling Kaine. After the fire is put out, three disappear, and the cops leave Peter sits with an ice pack on his head claiming to have been thrown through the wall. Harry even remarks how much the big hairy guy looked like Peter, if he bulked up a bit and grew a beard.

Spider-Man

Harry and Peter finally graduated from high school. At the graduation he saw MJ and Flash argue then break up and so harry took advantage of the situation and hooked up with MJ.

Later in the movie Harry was finally going to introduce MJ to his father for the first time at Thanksgiving dinner. Harry introduced MJ and his dad was impressed. Dinner didn't go as well as Harry had planned and Harry's father stormed out after discovering Peter was Spiderman. Harry followed his father out to talk to him. Harry and Norman argued about MJ and Norman said some hurtfull things that MJ overheard. Harry didn't stand up for her as much as MJ would have like him to so MJ then stormed out after arguing with harry, their relationship pretty much ended at that point.

At the end of the movie Harry watched as Spiderman laid his fathers dead body down in the living room of his home. Harry then pulled out a gun and attempted to shoot Spiderman, but Spiderman was gone by the time Harry looked up. At his fathers funeral Harry swore that Spiderman would pay, thinking that Spiderman had killed his father.

Spider-Man 2

In Spiderman 2, Harry is a strict businessman for OSCORP. He worked with Dr. Otto Octavious by financing his project and therefor putting OSCORP on the map in a way his father never dreamed of. Once Otto has the project completed and ready for testing, Harry and Peter along with others watched as Otto demonstrated what his project was about. Unfortunately, when Otto activated the machine, it entered into an unstable state. Harry screamed at Otto to shut the machine down but Otto wouldn’t listen. Everyone else left before things got bad except Harry who was too busy yelling at Otto. When the machine finally started to explode, Spiderman came to the rescue and saved Harry from the explosion. Harry, although greatful, told Spiderman that what he did for him wouldn’t change the way he felt about the web-slinger.

Later, while Harry is down and depressed about Otto's project failing and therefor not helping out OSCORP the way Harry had hoped it would, Otto came to visit him on his balcony. Otto demanded that Harry give him what he wanted, Harry refused, and so Otto used his mechanical arms to lift Harry over his balcony and threatened to drop him. Harry immediately offered to come to an agreement with Otto, and Otto then brought Harry back onto the balcony. Harry told Otto that if he would bring Spiderman to him alive he would then give him whatever he needed.

Once Doctor Octavious ("Doc Oc") had his fight with Spiderman and defeated him, he brought him back to Harry. Harry then said he would get Otto what he wanted and Otto then left. Harry finally got what he wanted and was ready to stab Spiderman, but he then decided to take off Spiderman's mask to see who he was first. It was then when he discovered that it was Peter Parker who was Spiderman. Harry dropped his knife, shocked at the discovery. Peter then wakes up and tries to convince Harry to believe him and can't stay and explain because he had to save Mary Jane and stop Doctor Octopus. Harry still shocked by his discovery lets Spider man leave. Harry gets mad because his father appears in a mirror and he screams: "Avenge me!" In his anger he throws what's in his hand at  the mirror which breaks and reveals his fathers hidden room full of his Goblin weapons, glider and formula.
 
Spider Man 3
In the third Spider Man movie while Peter watches Mary Jane perform on Broadway Harry watches Peter. He obviously still resents him because he knows his best friend is Spider Man, who he thinks killed his father. After the play Peter sees him entering a limo but Harry wants nothing to do with him. That night Harry uses the Oscorp Goblin formula to seek revenge for his fathers death. After visiting with Mary Jane and Aunt May Peter is on his motor bike home when Harry attacks. Harry now wearing his own "goblin" ensemble (its black and the little green it has is hard to see nor is it a bit goblin-esque) that looks more military/combat style it features a retractable mask, a sword which is strapped to his back, wrist gauntlets his left arm has a control panel that controls the board but the one on his right arm has multiple retractable blades that can cut through metal and they "hum" when he swings at someone, he of course carries the usual pumpkin bombs and razor bats too. His Goblin Glider is actually more skate board shaped it can be ridden in a skate board stance or length wise (the rider is standing feet apart and it appears like the more common Goblin Glider stance),  the glider also provides a supply or pumpkin bombs and razor bats. The battle between Harry and Peter rages through the city but ends with Peter tricking Harry by using his web to clothes line him off the glider. While falling Harry hits a lot on his way down and lands unconscious and not breathing which causes Peter to attempt C.P.R he is eventually taken to the hospital for further treatment. Peter is waiting at the hospital but Mary Jane arrives shortly after the doctor tells them Harry has suffered a severe head injury which might affect his short term memory (which it does). The couple visit their recently conscious  friend who thinks he was mugged which is how he was hurt Harry seems to not remember that Peter is Spider Man or still believe Spider Man killed his father. Harry tells Mary Jane he likes not knowing who he is and tells her he wrote her a play in high school. Later Peter and Harry are playing basketball in the Osborn mansion when a vase falls Harry is amazed by his super human reflexes when he catches the ball and vase simultaneously. Mary Jane is sad because she was replaced in the play and Peter does not understand how she feels so she goes to Harry. While Mary Jane and Harry bond attempt to cook they bond and end up kissing causing her to leave. Harry eventually regains his memory and forces Mary Jane to leave Peter, he then has Peter meet him where he tells Peter that she had left because of another man and he, Harry, was the guy. Peter is suspicious of Harry and angry at him so while wearing his black suit under his clothes he attacks him in his mansion. While fighting Peter brings up Harry's father issues and eventually gains the upper hand and throws Harry into his hidden Goblin hideout. He begins to leave but Harry throws a pumpkin bomb at him but Peter catches it with his web and slings it back at him where it explodes near his face. Venom and Sandman eventually kidnap Mary Jane and use her to lure Spider Man into a  "final" battle but Peter knows he can not face them alone. Peter goes to Harry requesting help but Harry says no and reveals his face which is now disfigured on one side because of Peter. While watching Peter get pummeled on t.v Harry is told by his butler that the night his father died he had cleaned his wounds and Norman died by his own hand. We then see Peter getting pounded by Sandman while Venom has him webbed to a beam but Sandman is then hit in the head with something small. He was actually struck by a pumpkin bomb thrown by Harry who saves him and helps in the fight to save Mary Jane. Harry is eventually pulled off his glider by Venom who later uses to try and kill Spider Man with but Harry jumps in the way to save Peter by getting stabbed by the board. Once Peter finishes the fight he and Mary Jane comfort Harry as died.
