Harleen Quinzel was a psychiatric resident at Arkham Asylum, where she met the incarcerated Joker. Falling in love with her patient, she conspired to break him out of prison and eventually became his lover and loyal sidekick, Harley Quinn. She eventually left him to be her own woman, and has been enemy and ally of Batman, and various other heroes.
why does every time there is duo the shipping bell automatically rings? I think we just have no imagination so we take the lazy way out. Yes I am calling most of you hacks.
I'm going to pretend NOT to throw up at the disgusting prospect of Harley and Ivy as lesbian lovers (Barfs guts out). It's a disgrace to what I consider 2 fantastic characters, and I hope people can get that rare thing called LOGIC through their heads that their not lesbians. It's like saying that Iron Man has a thing for Spider-Man (Barfs guts out again). Which is not true. That's a lie. And so is Harley+Ivy as lovers.
Why are you so sickened by the idea of two people of the same gender being intimate with one another? Are you a homophobe?

That ^
And no one's saying they're lesbians. We're saying they're bisexual. Or at least, Harley is bisexual, and Ivy might be a lesbian, but no one's sure.
Anyway, it was 100% confirmed by Paul Dini for BTAS, so it's canon in at least the DCAU

I'm gonna go ahead and repost my opinion from a different thread...
Harley and Ivy don't seem like the kind of girls who I would label "bi" or "gay". It is definitely conceivable that the two may have a relationship and that they may hold some sort of romantic feelings for one another. But something about placing the definitive labels on their sexualities doesn't sit right with me. Harley is basically the Joker's girl - no amount of developing her and changing her relationship will ever take her away from the Joker forever. And Ivy as basically created to be the woman no man can resist who is very prone to manipulating men through her sexuality. I can't see either character being romantically interested in other women aside for one another which makes calling them homosexual seem a bit off to me.
That being said, I definitely agree that so few writers seem to display the ability to write Harley. It's not too hard to get a handle on her personality but it feels like writers unfamiliar with her don't do any more research then "Oh, she's in love with the Joker and he abuses her." smh.
I think it'd make a great story one day for a sort of love triangle to develop between Harley and Ivy and the Joker. Of course, I don't see that happening anytime soon judging by the current status of their relationships (Joker and Harley are off, Harley and Ivy apparently have yet to meet) but I hope someday that somebody will be able to touch on that.
I'd just like to point out the extraordinary imbalance between views and comments for this thread. Can everyone please just enjoy the implications thereof?

When did he confirm that?
Maybe Joker gets a threesome every now and then lol. It's like Harley begs Ivy to let him join in on the fun hahahaha. lol I'm immature.
A lot of Harley's character is based around her feeling for Joker.
However if a writer had a good story involving an Ivy/Harley hook up, that used their feelings and relationship to explore character, I'd be interested in reading that.
... but if they're trying to sensationalize girl on girl action to sell to a teen male audience, I'd totally skip that garbage.
They're not lesbians. People these days can't see beyond their sexually blinding lenses. They are friends, nothing more. Friends sleep together (in a non sexual way), play with each other (in a non sexual way), and talk about intimate things. That's just what friends do, especially girl friends.

THAT is what I meant by saying that I was disgusted. THANK you!
I mean, I suppose it isn't THAT bad until it's brought up over and over again. I always saw them as having a kind of an older sister (Ivy)/younger sister (Harley) which would make it kind of awkward IMO if they hooked up.
The only good thing Dini has done in his entire career was the creation of Harley and Batman TAS. He bastardized Wonder Woman in JLA TAS, he bastardized Poison Ivy with his TERRIBLE Harvest run in the mid-2000s, and now he's bastardizing Spider-Man in the Ultimate Spider-Man series. He sucks, and his best days are long behind him and are nothing more than a shadow of promise.

Why do you think he bastardized Wonder Woman in JL the animated series.

*throwing holy water at the computer screen* BLASPHEMY!
Now I know some people claim to have spoken to Timm and Dini saying that they've confirmed Harley and Ivy's "more-than-friends" relationship. IF that is true, if Bruce and Dini themselves said Harley and Ivy had something together - then they've had something together! End of argument! If you don't like it then stfu and walk away. Lol

Seriously, this is the best answer to this question I've seen.

Dini has, but he's a fat, talentless idiot with a panty fetish so I wouldn't trust him. From what I can gather, Timm hasn't, but when he does I'll trust him.
Haven't heard his word saying it. If I ever ask see him at a Con, I'll ask. But I would sooner trust Frank Miller with his opinions on Wonder Woman than Dini on Harley and Ivy.
"In a universe where a girl falls madly in love with someone that she's willing to change the way she sees and lives life. She dons the costume of a Harlequin jester to show the world that she is the joker's gal."
Now, I'm not trying to be homophobic or anything, but these implications don't seem to connect with me. Saying that she has done "things" with Poison Ivy seems a little off. I mean, she's a character known for being madly in love with the Joker, having this kind of relationship with Ivy seems to demean/belittle that love with the Joker. It makes it less special to me. In a point in time where she doesn't care for the Joker, or evolves passed him, than sure. But romanticizing these two to that point while the Joker is still apart of Harley's life, like I said, seems off.
I also feel that the relationship between Harley and Ivy is more like a big sister/little sister connection. And if it's suppose to be the way Dini is trying to convey it rather than how I perceived it, than that's just even more weird for me.
All of this just seems so counter intuitive to me...it's like Ivy being a vegetarian...w-WHAT?
Sorry for bumping this thread, had to give my input for some reason. (don't hurt me!)
@zijuun: Seems off to you too, eh? One of those writers was her creator, but I don't understand why he would make a character who is madly in love with another have a sexual relationship with someone else...It doesn't add up. Sorry if I'm still reminding you of this subject, but it should still be pondered upon as people are considering this to be canon. Can't escape from it, I'm afraid.
Oh, and it seems Harley will be meeting Ivy in the New 52 soon:
