Well almost every character has a respect thread (even stilt-man) so why not one of my favorite characters Hank Pym.
I know people can't stand him but I really like him. So if you like Hank Pym don't let me be alone and commend.

Hank Pym is the greatest Avenger of all time. Simple as that.

    Amongst Hank's feats we have;
    • Declared Scientist Supreme by Eternity
    • Used his Pym Particles to grow beyond reality and encounter Eternity
    • Created Heaven. Yes, Heaven.
    • Used the Infinite Avengers Mansion to maintain the molecular integrity of Jan after her death; enabling her to be brought back
    • He's considered God of Artificial Intelligence. Ultron's design was so perfect that it was ultimately a flaw.
    • Knocked out Egghead, who has a Kingpin-esque physique, with one blow
    • Defeated Chthon
    • Created the Infinite Avengers Mansion (the most impressive piece of teleportation/space bending technology created in the MU)
    • Called Reed Richards a bitch
    • Was the catalyst behind Loki's sacrifice in Siege
    • Discovered Pym Particles
    • Defeated a Cosmic Cube empowered Absorbing Man
    • Called Reed Richards a bitch
    • With the help of the Mighty Avengers, which he was leading, defeated the Unspoken, who was arguably more powerful than Black Bolt (who's in the top 5 most powerful superhumans on Earth)
    • Defeated Reed Richards in single combat based solely on the use of scientific equipment
    • Infiltrated the Baxter Building, outsmarting Richards' insanely state-of-the-art security system
    • Knocked out the Leader (not that impressive, mostly just cool)
    • Called Reed Richards a bitch

Hank is definitely the best Avenger ever in my mind, and so many people seem to forget that it was Hank who first proposed that the Avengers stick together and make a team, not Hulk, Iron Man, or Thor. And Janet came up with the name "Avengers".

Back in the WCA, when Wanda was having trouble making her hex powers work the way she wanted them to, Hank figured out how before she did and had her test his theory in his lab. And he was proven correct when her hex powers didn't backfire in the experiment. Unfortunately, her powers also changed the results he'd recorded just seconds later, alluding to her reality warping ability. He was pretty good with understanding magic even back then!

I'm a massive fan of Pym and i'm glad to find other fans! I hate it when he finally gets rid of the stigma of being a wife beater; no that its a forgivable thing but when he resolves the past issues with Janet and then all of a sudden someone comes along and brings it all back to the surface. His character in Mighty Avengers was what made the series for me and it sucks that the team was sidelined for the idea of the "heroic age" Hank was bringing that back on his own with his team!

Pym is definitely my favorite hero, and I've always been surprised that he hasn't been more popular. If you ask me he is one of the most successful and developed heroes out there. I'm disappointed that he isn't going to be in the Avengers movie but with the news of his own movie on it's way I'm hoping he'll finally get the respect he deserves. I'm actually going to be getting an Ant-man/Giant-man tattoo soon! Pym is a character who definitely deserves respect as one of the defining forces of the marvel universe. It's awesome to know there are other fans that love him just as much as I do!

Too bad Marvel Studios were too pussy to make an Ant-Man film before Avengers came out, they were too pussy to take a loss. It's finally Avengers: Age of Ultron and Pym isn't involved in the slightest other than he created the first Ultron back in the 60s. This movie is such a disservice to Ant-Man fans. First off, Wasp is dead, Pym is old, while everyone else in the MCU have seemed to got a time jump. Scott Lang is just a criminal, yet he is the first to be Ant-Man on the silver screen. Marvel even had to change Scott's story so it was ease the pain of ruining Pym. So now Pym seems to be Lang's mentor. I'm outraged. So now when Ant-Man and the MCU is rebooted... people will be like "WTF? This isn't Ant-Man, Scott is supposed to be Ant-Man!" The people I'm talking about are the same people who are saying now "... Ant-Man is such a stupid superhero!". I wish this movie was cancelled.

i really miss avengers earths mightiest heros i really liked him in the show (though he was very different from the comics) and i absolutely loved avengers AI, its a shame we'll never see him be the main focus again (until rage of ultron i guess) because marvel will be focusing on scott lang because of the antman movie

More than anyone else I can think of in the Marvel universe, Pym has been, either directly or indirectly, responsible for creating new heroes and giving them powers such as:

    1. Janet Van Dyne (The Wasp)
    2. Scott Lang (Ant-Man)
    3. Eric O'Grady (Ant-Man)
    4. Bill Foster (Goliath/Giant-Man)
    5. Tom Foster (Goliath)
    6. Clint Barton (Goliath)
    7. Rita DeMaria (Yellowjacket)
    8. Erik Josten (Atlas)
    9. Cassandra Lang (Stature)
    10. Jocasta
    11. Vision
    12. Victor Mancha
    13. Speed
    14. Wiccan

That doesn't include the students from Avengers Academy, or the AI's from Avengers AI. Charles Xavier may have trained more heroes, but Pym MADE more heroes than anyone else in the Marvel universe.

I have to say that I was shocked and pleased to find this thread. Hank Pym has been one of my favorite characters since about 1972, when I read the Marvel Feature Ant-Man.

I've got to ask, though. Did it ever occur to anyone else that, both times Hank had a nervous breakdown, it was after Ultron had been screwing around with his mind? I think he's been getting a bum rap for decades now.

@chuck99: I agree, mental illness has became cliche with Hank because the writers that inherit Hank usually fall back on his mental issues instead of doing something creative. The writing for Avengers Academy and Mighty Avengers and Buziek's Avengers run were definitely more interesting because they actually focused on the many traits that make Hank so interesting like his scientific mind, the stealthiness and force of his shrinking and growing powers, his ability to lead, and his lengthy history with just about every Avenger. I'm definitely one of the late comers to appreciating Hank. It's wasn't until 5 years ago I knew anything about Hank, but I have been a fan of marvel comics for 25 years. Hank is probably the most unknown character for having such a long and rich history that I think more people would enjoy if they took the time to get to know his awesome story.

@giant-man I did like what Busiek did with him, but I'd gotten really tired of him (and most of Marvel) for a long time. One of the things that reminded me how much I enjoyed him was the Mighty Avengers, but the other was what... Jeff Parker, I think, did with Bruce Banner before and the Fall of the Hulks storyline. Hank Pym should (and can be) a really fantastic character without ever resorting to his powers. I wish Steve Englehart had been able to do more with him in WCA.

    @jezzupwuzzup:

    You're quite misinformed

    1. Ant-man wasn't even supposed to be in the McU.It was supposed to be a independent movie like Punisher: War Zone. Hank and Jan were to be in the Avengers movie as Giant-Man and Wasp originally. However Marvel wanted The Ant-Man movie in the MCU so things were altered. It had nothing to do with risk taking.

2.Scott is hardly "just a criminal". He's a devoted father and an electronics genius whos expertise has been sought by some of the most distinguished mindsin the MU. And to be fair all of the ant-men were criminals at one point (Hank had his Yellowjacket stuff, O'Grady was a thief, a voyeur/stalker, etc)

If you don't like some of the choices, that's your business. But don't try to act like all Ant-Man fans are getting screwesd over here. It's about time Scott got a little recognition.

God to agree with you. Hey, I'm glad Scott Lang and Hank Pym are even being given a chance by Marvel. I think both heroes deserve to be on the big screen. The movie may not be exactly like it is in the comics, but then when is it ever that way?

I've heard great reviews for the movie and can't wait.
