is Hal a planet buster? i mean currently im pretty sure he was in the Silver Age but how about now, can he destroy a planet with his energy beams?  also another curiosity, whats his strength level?  feats as proof would also work but please ive always wondered this...  and the same question goes for all the other earth GLs

Plants are no match for the Green Lantern ring. Their photosynthesis cannot match willpower!

Depends on the writer. Geoff Johns, the current big cheese of GL universe, writes lanterns as significantly below planet destroying level. Other series have different takes. Rann-Thanagar War, for example, has Kyle and Kilowog casually altering the orbit of Thanagar with no apparent trouble.

Unless of course we're talking about Alan Scott, in which case, he's screwed. :P

He can destroy any plant, that is, unless it's yellow ;)

I'm sure Hal can kick any tree's ass but we know Alan Scott couldn't

This is one thing I never understood. Johns is so obsessed with Green Lanterns and Hal in particular, but he constantly undersells them in his works. Now, I guess part of that has to do with his changing so many previously established details and partially retconning how Hal managed some of his feats, but even still, if anything, he should be writing Lanterns more powerful than before. Lanterns have blown up planets in the past, and their Rings have been said to be able to split planets in half.

I would like to believe that Geoff Johns isn't necessarily underselling the power of the Green Lanterns, but more likely saving up the big moments for when he feels they're right. Having Lanterns routinely cut planets in half doesn't make it awe-inspiring, but I feel as though when he DOES show something super powerful we'll all be thankful and amazed for the restraint he has shown. :)

@RMurray:
that would definetly make more sence than just cutting back is powers for no reason, i just hope that those special moments dont take too long, i mean why go the exact opasite direction with Barry? He basically made him into a speed god if you think about it, so why he would cut back on Hal just dosent make as much sence.....
