The return of Parallax!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hal Jordan
Character » Hal Jordan appears in 5295 issues.
With the ability to overcome great fear and harness the power of will, test-pilot Hal Jordan was chosen to be the Green Lantern of Sector 2814 inheriting the ring of the dying alien Green Lantern, Abin Sur. He later on went to creating his own power ring from his own will power. Through sheer will power and determination, Hal has established an impressive record of heroism across the galaxy with the help of his fellow Green Lanterns as well as his peers in the Justice League.
Green Lantern #50 Review
I agree with this score. 4.5 out of 5.
This was Blackest Night # 6.5. It moved the characters along, giving them something interesting to do without being required for the collected BN series: Just what a tie-in is supposed to do. Considering the main series didn't ship in January, this and Hawkman & The Atom were solid placeholders. In all likelihood, the Parallax situation will resolve in GL #51 and not be part of Blackest Night #7.
I love how Geoff is able to instantly transform anything he touches into something extremely cool. "I never wanted children" would have sounded terrible in the lips of anyone, but the whole Mera-burning-a-baby scene is pure awesome.
I agree with you, G-Man, this issue is great. One of the best tie-ins so far. Everyone who reads it should have read The Phatom Stranger #42, by the way. This issue follows directly with what happens there.
Great issue. story A+ art A++
Parallax is awesome but I would like to see the other emotion entities, we only know about Parallax and Ion, but is Ion coming back? is it even still alive? and what happened to the Predator? I hope we get to see the others as well. Rage, Hope, Compassion. Geoff Johns said that the Avarice entity lives in Larflees's power battery so. I hope Johns explores that as well.
I agreed with the rating, G-man. Very good, important issue. You didn't say anything about it, but Doug Mahnke's work deserves all the praise it gets. It was one of the best books I saw this week.
I also understand what you're saying about event fatigue. So far, I've felt like they could've either condensed the event some or cut down on the more "useless" tie-ins. I'm quite disappointed that there won't be a one-shot for Scarecrow, Luthor, Ganthet, and Mera (since we had issues exploring Barry, Diana, and Ray - Atom and Hawkman being quite good).
Am I the only one who wishes Scarecrow could keep his ring after this? I enjoyed watching him with the yellow light.
I swear, Parallax sounds like the name of a laxative.
When you hold the book sideways in that manner it looks as if you are opening something naughty.
At least the events in DC haven't been as overstretched as Marvel's. As an example. I was ready for The Siege to be over about a minute after I first heard about it.
Maybe the Black Lanterns are unionized with a strong dental plan?

" Is that your Wedding ring? "Wrong hand Sora.
" i really need to start reading green lantern!!!! is issue 50 a good place to start reading green lantern???? if not any recommendations ??? I've been reading blackest night and i love it!!!!! carnt wait for blackest night 7#!!!!!! "If you have been reading Blackest Night, yeah, absolutely get GL 50. It's terrific.
But it's not a terrific jumping-on point if you don't know much about Green Lantern. It would make sense if you read Green Lantern: Rebirth, which is what launched the current run by Geoff Johns. After that, you might as well track down the rest of the series, but you can also pick up the book after Blackest Night and be pretty clear with what's going on.
Hal Parallax is lame after all the retcons johns did + his suit is nothin compared to Kyleallax lol
all jokes aside though i would have preferred to see sinestro as the host, been there done that with hal......and johns retcons haven't made the concept cooler....................
solid review g-man and a good issue

If you're reading Blackest Night then 50's a good one. Sticking to the BN, 43 is fantastic for Black Hand (although he's been relatively quiet in BN), 44-48 are what happens to Hal as he collects the New Guardians (Sinestro vs. Mongul's pretty nice).
But Bandito's right, reading from Rebirth on gives you everything Johns has been working on. Definitely a stellar run that has elevated Green Lantern.
"I thought this issue was great. Hal kinda threw himself at Parallax a little too quickly though, almost like he wanted it back. "
That's who Hal is - the reckless fighter pilot who leaps before he looks.
" I want Scarecrow to be a Sinestro...FOREVER!!!!!!!! He is my favourite Batman villain, and now he has a power ring from my favourite Corps, well that's pretty much the icing on the cake for me!!! "Agreed, Scarecrow and Fear is synonymous - it is only right that he keeps the ring
I know what you mean about wanting it to be over, because that's how I feel about LOST & I love both LOST and Blackest Night. However I really want to see how the story plays out & what changes the characters will go through. I really am digging the Green Lantern comics & they gave us cool Lantern Corps Rings, so very stellar book. =D.
In the Last GL volume, Hal Jordan became Parallax in issue #50.... In this volume Johns brings the son of a bitch back!
It's Parallax in 2010 Comic book art and quality! As a long time GL fan... I had multiple orgasms reading this!
Geoff Johns IS MY MORTAL GOD!!!
And Mera, as a red lantern!? F#cking brilliant! I love Aquaman and I effin' love red lanterns so you know I loved the merge! YAY! Geoff pulled off 50 issues of GL without replacing him, making him a drunk, destroying the corps and so on! Here's to another friggin' 50 issues...
oh and did I say Geoff is my mortal god ?!?!?!
i began with Green Lantern with the issue right after Blackest Night. Should I pick up the trade of Green Lantern Blackest Night?
