Hal Jordan

Character » Hal Jordan appears in 2579 issues.

Deemed worthy, Hal Jordan was chosen to be the Green Lantern of Sector 2814 by the dying alien Green Lantern, Abin Sur. In the ensuing years Hal established an impressive record of heroism throughout the known universe and is widely considered the greatest Green Lantern ever.

Here we go.  Time to get some answers.  Michael Green, co-writer for the Green Lantern movie spoke to IGN about what we can expect.  At a recent Warners/DC summit meeting, the script came up.  Apparently it was well received.  Even current GL writer, Geoff Johns gave his approval.  There will obviously be a lot of secrets surrounding the actual script but we do get one (obvious) confirmation.  Who will be the lead Lantern in this movie?
"It's Hal Jordan," he confirms. "I can't give too many spoilers, but the idea is to introduce a new character to an audience that is probably not familiar with him. So we start at the beginning with Hal Jordan."
It seems that other Lanterns such as Alan Scott and John Stewart haven't been completely ruled out.  It'd be cool to see the others but I think they should be careful with how many characters they introduce.  As stated, it's a movie about Hal Jordan, the Green Lantern.  It's not necessarily a movie on the Green Lantern Corps.  That would deserve it's own movie.

There is also some talk about whether or not Warners will try to go the Marvel/Avengers route and tie all the characters together.
"I don't know what the current plans are for Justice League. I would go see it! It sounds cool. I think the idea is to treat them separately right now and, like all things, they eventually tie together in the mind of the viewer. The only mandate such as it is was, 'Any references you want to make to expand the DC world, we would enjoy,' which is one of the better notes you can get. … It's like, 'Oh, more candy? Please!' They opened up the DC toy box on that, so it was fun."
Let's hope it turns out to be as incredible as it should.  I would assume we'd have to see Sinestro in it.  You can't have Hal Jordan's origin with out him.

Glad to see we are on the same wavelength, Ol' G, that's pretty much what I said when you first posted about this.  Iron Man brought in a lot of non-comic audiences, hopefully the Green Lantern movie could do the same, given the potential for the FX, and great story.  Sinestro is just one of the best comic book villains ever, even if you don't like GL.
