Hack/Slash is a fun comic book that you should be reading with KISS playing in the background. This is a story about a seriously disturbed but utterly hot young woman (pretty much a staple in LA subculture) who survived an attack by a serial killer who turned out to be her mother. She went on to be a darker version of Buffy by hunting down "slashers" with her bigger, stronger but uglier side-kick Vlad. I just want every one to realize that this reality only worked in fantasy world and in LA. However, it's a lot of fun. Where else can you have lesbian moments or masturbating in a truck in between hunting down demons?
Sex, demons, and rock'n'roll action all rolled up in every issue. This issue was no different. In the second part of Foes and Fortunes, Libby tried to right the laws of karma by doing the water/body possession experience that was ripped off from Constantine. There's a low brow moment where Libby's possessed body screams "Eat me!" to Vlad and shoves his face in the tub that is between Libby's legs. *cues gong*
The ending was bittersweet but it is typical of Hack/Slash, a comic book perfect for angst ridden teenagers looking for raunchy fun.
Rating: Borrow it (but check out the graphic novel)
