Cynthia Reynolds starts her career as a superhero in Detroit with the Justice League of America. Edit
Cindy Reynolds was born to Edward and June Reynolds. Things go well for the family until shortly after Cindy's brother is born. This is when her parents started fighting and Cindy finds herself being abused. This causes her to run away from home. She ends up buying a one way ticket to Detroit.
Once in Detroit, Cindy uses her her powers to protect herself. She evades capture in the city with her invisibility. After a while, she becomes a mystery to the people of Cameron Street and some even think of her as an urban legend.
She eventually ends up on a path to join the Justice League of America. The League however is wiped out soon after she joins. Toward the end of her stay with the League, she has a premonition that two members of her league, Commander Steel and Vibe are going to be killed. Professor Ivo sends an android to kill all of them ,but Gypsy manages to find a conscience in the android that is sent to kill her. She convinces the android to not only spare her life ,but to safely return her to her parents as well. Commander Steel and Vibe were not so lucky. They were both killed by Ivo's androids.
Shortly after she returnes home, Despero arrives and murders her parents. Despero tries to kill Gypsy as well ,but she was saved by the newer incarnation of the Justice League. Devastated, she returns to being a superhero. Booster Gold takes her on as a member of his team, the Conglomerate.
Over time, she grows very close to J'onn J'onzz, developing a sort of father/daughter relationship. Their relationship grew as they both worked together in the Justice League Task Force.
Eventually Gypsy is killed, but is miraculously returned to life by the Martian Manhunter, who pleads with his god, Hronmeer, to restore her life.
Most recently she has joined the Birds of Prey. She began learning martial arts in order to become a better fighter.
