I don't know if I'll be picking this one up...

#2 Posted by CaptainUseless (730 posts) - - Show Bio

Great review as always.

#3 Edited by MisterMollusk (104 posts) - - Show Bio

I love Guy Gardner. He's probably my favorite of the green lanterns. I like what they've done to make him go from self-centered misogynist to self-centered misogynist with hidden depth.

I love Ganthet and Guy! This was a great issue.

#5 Posted by iLLituracy (13537 posts) - - Show Bio

I feel like that first scene was foreshadowing Guy's death.

I don't like Guy that much but Ganthet is pretty cool.

They are both in my top 10 for sure. I don't care for Brightest Day but when I heard about this, I knew I'd get it.

@iLLituracy: yeah i think its a good time to kill off Guy Gardener. In a very editorial way to sustain the Green Lantern interest that (imo) has been falling away since the end of Blackest night

why don't Babs and G-man do reviews together

#10 Posted by Decept-O (7284 posts) - - Show Bio

Atrocitus, Atricious, or Atrocious, which is it, G-Man?  Bwaa Ha Haa!  Its OK, I always think "atrocious" when I read the word Atrocitus as it is which I'm sure that's the intent behind the name.

I agree I've never been too keen on Guy Gardner but this sounds interesting regarding what his intentions are and what may happen to him.  At least he's not that "Warrior" character--*ugh*.

I never used to like Guy, but since Rebirth he's really grown on me.

#12 Posted by IronSpidy-Rooney (356 posts) - - Show Bio

I wonder will guy become a red lantern again

#13 Edited by wallywest55 (231 posts) - - Show Bio

Guy is prolly my fave green lantern i can understand why people don't like him BUT that comic is really good. Pretty soon you are going to have to read bc it interwines with the green lantern and green lantern corps series. IMO if you are deciding not to get it bc u don't like guy and you are just on "OMG HAL IS THE BEST" mode u should get off that high horse and get the comic. Also who would pass up the opportunity to get to see more of atrocitus?  And ofc the main man ganthet. Like he said its a good read and lots of entertaining stuff. =D

Wow I agree with Tony, Surprisingly, as negative as his review is, he gave it about the same score I did. I'm glad when we agree.... :)

#16 Posted by carnivalofsins00 (938 posts) - - Show Bio

i definitely prefer Hal to Guy but i loved this issue. Plus, the cover art is really good too. =]

#17 Posted by G-Man (37783 posts) - - Show Bio
@IronSpidy-Rooney: There was one panel sort of dealing with this...
#18 Posted by Hamz (342 posts) - - Show Bio

Guy > Hal

You know it to be true, search in your hearts!

And yes, I really enjoyed the issue myself. I kind of like the idea of the Lanterns going on exploration missions to catalogue the uncharted sectors of space. You know between the red lantern, Ganthet and Guy there will be some major adventures and in-fighting between them.

Looking forward to more of it!

i thought it was intreasting but like you g-man i am not a fan of guy

i did not find the last page to be that strong
#20 Posted by IronSpidy-Rooney (356 posts) - - Show Bio
@G-Man: He made a good red lantern
#21 Posted by MisterMollusk (104 posts) - - Show Bio
@elevatorparty: If they killed Guy, he'd just overthrow the devil and be the new king of hell.
#22 Posted by Mediant (329 posts) - - Show Bio

Personally, I love Guy. I think he's my favorite human Green Lantern. So I'm excited for this series.
@G-Man: Even though you dislike Guy, I'm glad you never the less gave the issue a fair and unbiased review. Nicely done.

#23 Posted by Comiclove5 (1258 posts) - - Show Bio

I loved this issue.
#24 Posted by mightiness (291 posts) - - Show Bio

Guy is just rad. I love how he still has his 80's costume.

#25 Posted by Joe Venom (1275 posts) - - Show Bio

idk why people dont digg Guy, he make stories so more interesting, Kyle on the other hand is like a story buzz kill look what he did to the Corps book its all about love and crap. Space is deep, black, and cold there is no room for love out there

#26 Posted by Onyx (189 posts) - - Show Bio

Soooooo G-man....Do you like Guy Gardner or No?

#27 Posted by MisterMollusk (104 posts) - - Show Bio
@Decept-O: Pshaw, the whole Vuldarian thing rocked!
#28 Posted by Seraphim84 (58 posts) - - Show Bio
@IronSpidy-Rooney:

good point.  I wonder if chromatic Gardner may be returning...
#29 Posted by goldenkey (2927 posts) - - Show Bio
@haydenclaireheroes:
keep them seperate.  I like the seperate ones better, and once in a while a tandem one.
#30 Posted by goldenkey (2927 posts) - - Show Bio

Is the title about the 3 of them, or is Atrocitus just in this arch.  Cool if he's a central character.  Interesting.  I wouldn't mind seeing book for every singal colored corp cept for Agent Orange.  He would just get to annoying after a while.
#31 Posted by Quntumking (216 posts) - - Show Bio

Guy gardner kind of remind's me of marvel's U S Agent. They are both anti-heros to hal jordan and Captain America.

#32 Posted by Neverpraying (1465 posts) - - Show Bio

Wait, black lanterns are coming back? :O

#33 Edited by TheArmandoShow (38 posts) - - Show Bio

I didn't pick it up(not a Guy fan at all, there seems to be a lot of us) but I glanced at it on the shelf and watched this and I have to say, I am intrigued by the "exploration of the unknown sectors of space" theme.

P.S. Keep the solo reviews coming G-Man.

4.5 out of 5 is a fair rating. I may be a little bias because I'm a big Guy fan. In addition to the Red Lanterns and Ganthet, Kilawog and Arisia are supposed to star in the series. Great cast, I'll stick around!!
#37 Posted by Aquamariner (203 posts) - - Show Bio

As a green lantern fan i must say that this issue was effin' GOLD!

This is what the GL and GLC should be. But nooooooo, Instead Johns is having Hal drown in a blasted rainbow of lanterns and GLC is just a big fat bore!

You Go Tomasi, Take Guy to new Heights! 4.8 on myscale

My fundamental problem with this issue is that we still don't what this mission is.  Normally that wouldn't bother me and I'd enjoy the mystery, but in this case it's a crucial flaw.  The very core of the story is Guy Gardner and the sacrifices he's making.  We're supposed to empathize with and become engrossed in Guy's emotional journey.  The problem is that it's impossible to emotionally connect to Guy's sacrifice when we have no idea what the sacrifice is.

#40 Posted by Koz (139 posts) - - Show Bio

I still have to read it. Green Lantern books for me are all great!! I am hoping this will be a great series.
#41 Posted by Neverpraying (1465 posts) - - Show Bio
@G-Man:  Oh thanks.
#42 Posted by Archetype (731 posts) - - Show Bio

Guy Gardner is great. He's more exciting than boring Jon Stewart, he is less pretentious than Hal, and he is funnier than Kyle.Needless to say he is my fav Earth based lantern and of course I am interested in this story regardless.Charting new sectors seems like daunting task though you'd think they would send more than one lantern but what ever I'm hooked.

Great review... Enough to grab it to see for myself...  :)

#44 Posted by MorlockMartyr (66 posts) - - Show Bio

I was cautiously hopeful, and...

what a letdown. so boring.

But OK, let's see where it goes.

#45 Posted by fACEmelter88 (613 posts) - - Show Bio

Kyle Rayner has always been my fave

#46 Posted by Mr_Wayne69 (177 posts) - - Show Bio

I don't see how this couldn't have been boiled down into a plot or sub-plot in the GL Corps book. It seems unnecessary and forced. If anything it could have been a back up within the GL Corps (and) or GL books.
