Hey all, if you haven't seen this cover already, prepare to be blown away....
Yup, it's true... Guy will soon be rockin' the Red Lantern colors...
For those that have read the solicits for this issue, GLC-43, the quote is "A horrible loos for the Green Lantern Corps" I realize that you can only trust solicits so far, but "a horrible loss for the Green Lantern Corps" tells me we're probably looking at a death, and that the death will be a Lantern, not Ice. And I'm going to go ahead and predict Kilowog.
He and Kyle are the Lanterns that Guy cares the most about, and I doubt Kyle's going anywhere. I think Kilowog is the loss that would hurt the GLC the most, emotionally. For the record, I really hope I'm wrong. I don't think I've ever met a GL fan who doesn't like Kilowog!
I'm a little disappointed that they went the super-obvious route and gave Guy red. He's got a temper, sure, but there are waaaay too many readers who still think that he's a ticking timebomb waiting to go off. He's not the danger to himself and others that he used to be. He can really explode with anger, but he has also done more heavy-duty forgiving than any other character I've ever known. Yeah, he definitely qualifies for the red ring (since it accepts anyone who has a momentary temper tantrum, apparently), but I guess I was just hoping they'd do something... you know... surprising instead of obvious.
Even so, I'm really excited to read and see what they're going to do with it. He wielded that yellow ring for good, and I'll bet he can eventually manage to control himself enough to use the red competently, too. Like a lot of folks have predicted, I bet he'll be the red lantern who cooperates with the Big Rainbow Project. Or a one-man Black Lantern killing machine. So long as they give him his proper due, this has the potential to be awesome.
